At that level I’m far less interested in the reel and resume (I mean they should already have the reel and resume if EP level). I’m focusing on how they lead, inspire, mentor, impact culture, cross-discipline effectiveness, client-facing, elevate work, philosophy, etc. So does that mean I want a presentation from them on those things? Absolutely not. That would be too biased from the presenter. I’d rather dig in with those questions and do industry/peer research myself. Then have the interview panel focus on those areas for me too. Ultimately asking myself, would I be excited to work for this person if I was a young producer? Would they make the team better? Do they bring something new to the table and raise the bar? The answers all have to be an emphatic yes.
This is a really great answer. Similar to above, I focus on cultural fit, leadership, philosophy and managing cross discipline teams. Since producers are constantly getting thrown into all sorts of challenges, I like to understand how they identify risk, triage problems, and how they communicate. I then let the team dive into the project-specific details.
