Healthcare professions can be demanding, and achieving a healthy work-life balance is vital for the well-being of women in the field. Policies and practices that support flexible scheduling, parental leave, and other work-life balance initiatives are important.

When I was working in a more clinical setting, it took everything in me to set boundaries. Take your vacation time. Take breaks to eat lunch or go for a walk. Create habits that are non-negotiable for you. Most of my clients are women in healthcare, and it never ceases to amaze me how women in healthcare do not take care of themselves. I’ve been there, but it is so much better when we exchange this narrative for a new one that we want. You have to do it. Employers in healthcare will not, even the places that claim to. Maybe one day we will get there, but it’s 100% up to us to create a new narrative for our own lives.

They really don’t. I’ve had to tell my female coworkers to stop skipping lunch breaks and working until 10 pm. It also sets a bad precedent and I look like the slacker if I don’t work the way they do.

I definitely agree that healthcare systems need to be prioritizing work life balance. I think a lot of healthcare professionals are just expected to "deal with it" and a lot of burnout happens. I really hope this changes 😊

I couldn't agree less. A lot of women in this field are working so hard and never seem to get the break they deserve. Some organizations are very unintentional with most of these policies and practices. I really hope it gets better,

But why is there not some sort of equivalent for women who don't or can't have babies... I would love some time off in addition to my regular PTO, but must be able to conceive to do so?

Do you think parental leave is about relaxing and taking care of your mental health?

Hi everyone! I work in personal lines and I’m looking to start selling more life insurance. I want to start with cross selling to those in our book of business. Does anyone have tips that they’ve found successful in starting the conversation? Term/perm convos etc? I’ve read up on our products and my boss doesn’t really train on this and it’s more of a figure it out yourself approach he takes so any tips would be appreciated.

Why should I invest in my 401K before a taxable brokerage account? My logic is I want to buy a house in the next 5 years or so and that means if I put all my money into 401k I’ll be out that money and can’t touch it. I know I can pull out up to 50k as a loan but that’s not enough. Hence me wanting to put the money in a taxable account and let it grow and only pay the 15% LTCG tax. Ideas are open for discussion. Also I always max out my ROTH IRA YoY
