Ring or no ring it will always be “my” bank account.
She was absolutely 💯 percent correct. Sadly I made the mistake of trusting my ex-husband by doing a joint bank account after we got engaged. It was a decision I have regretted ever since. Never will I ever make that same mistake ever again

What was the balance
Overdrawn.
After all my life endeavors, I would have said to that lady: Say it loud and say it proud!
I would say, nah baby, make him wait a bit till after you're married.
Keep that bag, girl
If she spoke loudly enough for people around her to hear, I wouldn’t be embarrassed about eavesdropping. She clearly meant people to hear it.
And she'll get just what she deserves. Any ONE who would marry some ONE for money, is only interested in that money. That ONE will drain that account, quick and with a passion and be gone and not leave ONE red cent. Good for her to have a big bag and if she did it solo, even better. If done solo, how about leaving some breadcrumbs; show some ONE how to do it, so there will be fewer ONES without? I'm just ONE who helps every ONE I can, without looking for the hookup in return. Never wealthy, never hungry...♾️
Why wouldn't you keep your own bank account even after marriage? Maybe have a joint account for bill paying, that you both pay amounts into proportionate to your salary, but absolutely keep your own account. And keep 3 months salary in it at all times, as a running away fund (BTW I've been married 30 years, but I still have my running away fund, which I use for twice yearly solo holidays - you can't live in each other's pockets and hope to survive).
