Yes this bill does not promote diversity in immigration
By diversity you mean restrict 30% of the world population (india and China) to < 10% of immigrant slots and favor minority European, middle eastern, South American and African nations?
The point of diversity is to make sure you represent the broader population mix in ones environment not to over provision small groups by restricting larger groups so that you have a population mix that is non representative of the outside world. Sorry couldn’t find Merriam advocates limiting larger groups to non representative densities. In fact the bias against Asians is well documented. Today’s immigration system was created as a more palatable version when asian exclusion laws were removed in such a way to continue to favor Europeans

again started. I can’t take those debates anymore. the debate starts out as proponent of diversity then move to pro and anti immigration viewpoints and then finally biased opinions against Indians and Chinese. So, please stop this thread here and now. 🙏
Actually that’s not what happens. You have a bunch of pro-immigration Democrats saying they support diversity vs this bill
A healthy debate on this topic was had on one of the FB threads last week.
