I have a model 3 and love it. Have had minimal issues and the convenience of at-home charging combined with the Tesla supercharger network make it a phenomenal value with few compromises. The interior quality is not up to par with luxury carmakers and there are still fit and finish issues but given that you are comparing to a Toyota, this is a no brainer. Demand is off the charts for Tesla and they hold their value extremely well, sell it if you end up changing your mind and wanting a cheaper vehicle.
I had a similar internal debate before I bought a Prius in 2009. Ultimately, what it came down to for me is that the Prius at that time had the cache of a much cooler car with a price tag that was more equivalent to more entry level cars (Camry, Accord, etc). Now I’ve decided to get a Model Y. For the time being, it’s the EV that offers the best balance for me: a relatively approachable price point + the cool cache of a much more expensive car. I’ve seen more entry level EV options like the Bolt or Hyundais, but I just think from a perception perspective you get far more from a Tesla. Similar upscale options from Luxury carmakers cost significantly more. I do agree with the point that there will be far more EV options in the coming years, which is why I am debating buying or leasing (though I fully understand Tesla’s lease terms are terrible).

100% my personal preference, but I wouldn't be caught dead in a Tesla, can't stand them at all. If you're dead set on going electric, there are far more enticing prospects coming down the pipe in the next year or two than a Tesla, in my opinion.
Someone in this thread is a member of the TSLAQ crew
5 year TCO is the same for a Tesla Model 3 and Toyota Camry… you know what to do. https://www.google.com/amp/s/cleantechnica.com/2019/09/27/tesla-model-3-vs-toyota-camry-5-year-cost-to-own/amp/
Ordered a Tesla model Y 4 months ago and just took the delivery. The good thing about Tesla is if you have buyers remorse, vroom / caravana will buy you out for a premium. I checked and they were offering 3k over the OTD price I paid. But I am keeping the car. 😀
Buy a land cruiser 70 series. You'll survive a drone strike from God in that vehicle.
Since when are Toyota’s not cool? I have two 4Runners and I never want to own anything else
EY2 lol probably because all the other vehicles break down and the only ones still running are the Toyota’s.
Once you’ve driven a Tesla, it’s hard to go back to any other car. This is the car of the future.
Why didn’t you just say Back to the Future, that’s 1k super charger miles that you’ll never use gone!
Teslas are a flex. Do you need transportation or an ego boost? This being fishbowl, maybe I shouldn't ask. But keep in mind, for every "ooh" to your face there's an "eww" or two behind your back.
Yeah that's not true at all fam
I say smart mind
Life is short. But I’m biased, just bought a model 3.
Tesla all the way
Tesla’s are so hot. If you can afford it buy that. Drive a Honda when you’re 80
Koegnisegg
Or a p1 Mclaren

Buy an AMG, Porsche or M car to know what it’s like to DRIVE
Whatever you say.

A Honda Civic lasts forever if you take take care of it (and maintenance is relatively inexpensive). Of course, the choice is yours.
(Tersla) I have one too
Tesla is the way to go, have had one for almost 2 years and haven’t once had an issue/had to bring it in

Split the difference. Get a Genesis.

What does the soul say? Buy a Lexus! You can be cool, have some luxury and also get reliability. The ES 350 is a great vehicle for midrange sedan!
All depends on what you can afford, what you want out of a car, and how long you think you’ll keep it.
We’d be happy to explore each of these areas with you. I’ll send over a proposal shortly. Thx
Some VERY cool EVs coming out in the next few years. Buy a Honda and wait.
