Has anyone done earthquake retrofitting for a house NEWER than 1980? I know it’s a must-do for houses OLDER than 1980. But my house was built in 1988, so it’s not required.

Several contractors provided estimates, in the $40k-$50k range, which seems like a lot of $$$.

Apparently our house has bolts but not enough and not the right kind, plus it needs joist blocking and shear paneling. All to meet codes put in place after our house was built.

Was laid off from D recently and have been interviewing primarily for strategy roles. Curious for any advice converting in final rounds. I have been through several at this point and not gotten the offer. Received very positive feedback from the teams about my performance but in each case they said it was very competitive and ended up going with someone with slightly more direct experience. Tough to go through several 6+ week multi round processes and not convert. Any help or advice appreciated!

Everyone speaks to and addresses correspondence (except some emails) to clients, opposing counsel, etc. to Mr./Mrs. (last name) as a sign of respect and courtesy, which obviously assumes he/she pronouns. Do we address correspondence to (first name)? Put a preferred pronoun question on client intake forms?
