Gift card to a local restaurant to order dinner out one night is always appreciated. Saves cooking on one of those crazy days. Also books! Get away from the classics so you don’t duplicate someone else - but in my mind kids can never have enough books. If you need suggestions on books let me know! I am sure she will appreciate anything you do - I truly appreciated colleagues who recognized the big moments in my life when my kids were born. (I have a 3 and 5 year old)

Cook a meal or send gift card for good takeout near her house. Registry gifts also good. Massage or spa gift card also good if you know where she likes.

I was in this same scenario about five months ago and sent a Grubhub gift card. That way, she and her husband could order from whatever restaurant they wanted. She was very appreciative and said that it was really beneficial because they were too exhausted to cook!

All these suggestions are on point, especially the food related gifts! I had a lot of random frantic middle of the night Amazon orders with a newborn, so an Amazon gift card would work too. Aden and Anais muslin swaddles are nice, they can be used later on as burp cloths and stroller blankets.

Also made a ton of 2am amazon purchases!

Eberjey PJs

Wine

Either a food delivery gift card, or a cute baby outfit (not newborn size, babies grow out of it so fast they won’t get to even use it probably)

White noise machine that looks like a stuffed animal.

Gift card for a massage or Mani Pedi. Everyone is so focused on the baby, she will love that you thought of her.

A nice robe

Just started working at a big law firm about 3 weeks ago in a completely different field than I expected nor wanted to be in (but I needed to start working asap). I’m just a baby lawyer but I can’t stop shaking the feeling that I don’t even want to be a lawyer. Is this just nerves? the environment? or is this an even normal feeling?

Since I was a child I’ve never liked leftovers. I love my food fresh. When I cook, if I make too much, I eat and throw the rest out. When I go out and eat, I stuff myself because I know it “won’t taste good later.” I hate leftovers so much that I genuinely cannot meal prep, the taste of food that’s been in the fridge for a day or more is gross to me. I told a friend about this and she said that’s stupid snd strange… I’m just here to see if I really am stupid and strange or if anyone understands?

Long story short - my nanny has many conservative values - mom shaming breastfeeding in public, gender specific roles, considering boys better than girls etc. it never bothered me before and I have learned to co exist with her however now my toddler is speaking and understanding more I am worried about him being influenced by her. Further she also has comments against my SO being too involved parent & calling out son as cutie, hugging toddler etc as he is a boy. Contd..

Looking to vacation next summer in Greece and Italy with the fam. When you all book on bonvoy points do you reserve the room just for yourself or do put the actual number of people? When I search for just 2 people staying the room, there is availability to use bonvoy points. When I search for 3 people(6y/o kid) nothing is available. The same in Athens, Rome & Naples.

Have you seen “Baby Boomer” lately? So much great in there.

I don't have time to make purees at home. I buy from store all the time. I make sure it's organic and natural preservatives. I feel guilty that I don't give my six months old baby home made food ☹️

Hi mommas. Slowly weaning 4 month old from breast milk and wanting to move to only formula by 5 months. I know lots of people get formula shipped from Europe but that seems too much of a hassle. What US formula are you using? We’ve tried happy baby organics and Bobbie and I’m not sure which one is better (debating if having probiotic is a plus or no). Any thoughts welcome!

Confession: I'm a new mom traveling and nursing my baby (pumping at work). I'm starting to think the reason I still nurse is to leave the 20 person conf room and go sit in a quiet room for 20 mins.

Have to plan for childcare for when I have to return to work after my first child (we get 12 weeks). Did you hire a live in, someone come to house daily or did you bring to a daycare? How much did you pay and where do you live? Am trying to figure out how much good child care will run me.

I'm not a mom yet (don't kick me out of the group!) but have been going through fertility and IVF treatments for more than 6 months. I'm constantly having bloodwork, appointments and calls with the doc during working hours. Any advice on what I can and should tell my team about my health? They can tell I'm in and out of the doctor's office and I suspect they think I'm pregnant. Maybe it's being chock-full of hormone pills, but I'm sensitive about everyone thinking I'm pregnant when I'm not.

My husband and I are expecting and both of us have moms diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD.) My dad passed away earlier this year and my FIL lives in Australia and is the nicest man. He’s just far away from us since we’re based in the NE. My therapist says your family doesn’t have to be blood related but I can’t help but feel sad our baby won’t have grandparents or a similar type of figure easily accessible/ nearby. Can anyone relate and/or have a similar situation?

Hi Moms- Curious to get a sense of what your different parental leave policies look like and how you have liked them. My company gave 12 weeks paid and I felt it was woefully short for my first. Before having my second, I'm interested in pushing my company to increase the time and am curious to hear what other companies offer. Beyond just the time, was your company flexible? Is it the same for all parents? Did it feel like enough? Thank you!
