Hello all! I am currently in a rut as I am having some trouble finding my next role. As a quick background, I previously worked on the written discovery team as a legal assistant (mass tort litigation to be exact). I am trying to figure out my next step, but my last role kept me in a specific bubble as my knowledge revolves around WD and case management. Does anyone have have any advice on finding the next opportunity that understands the skills that I have while also willing to teach?

My last office was guilty of this; they "trained" their staff to only handle one specific part of the litigation process. It didn't help any of the employees' resumes at all should they choose to leave. I left and have hired some former employees from that office. I have trained these employees to know every aspect of litigation so that they can always jump in if anyone else out of the office, and should they decide to leave, their resume looks great. My advice to you is when you go on job interviews, be honest and let them know that you learned all that you can and are wanting to learn more and grow professionally as a paralegal or legal assistant.

Thank you so much for your advice - I agree on all that you said. I am very honest about my skills and always make it known that I am eager to understand all stages of litigation as I grow professionally in the role.

IMO, It's trial and error when applying to jobs. Seeing your response made me realize that I can still move forward. It's definitely taking some time, but I am not giving up.

I was in mass tort case management before and then stepped into a very specific area (IP law, not for me), and now I’m back in mass tort but doing ALL of the things.
Basically being retrained to be a full service filing, calendaring, drafting, paralegal. I’m stressed a lot but very grateful to build my resume.
Don’t get stuck. If you need to grow, you may need to go.

I understand completely. I am at a point where I am looking for a firm that is willing to train me (does that even exist anymore? haha) Believe it or not, I am still interested in mass tort litigation but that was the first firm I ever worked for, so I understand there's other possibilities out there.

I will keep applying to roles that interest me. Someone out there will see me!

As I'm moving to a new role in a small company, I have a doubt about my salary structure like the Basic salary part is only 20,000 while my take home is 62k after all deductions.

I'm concerned because the leave encashment & other things totally depends on the basic salary.

Are there not any rules for the Basic salary to be at a certain % of CTC or it depends totally on the company?

Also PF deductions they are offering only 1800 p.m but considering 20000 basic it should be 12% of 20000 right?

the company I am currently with allowed me a car at the start of my employment. This wasn't due to the role (at the time Office Manager), it was due to my personal circumstances. They kept my salary the same as the company I was transferring from.
6, nearly 7 years on and they are more or less telling me that they wish to replace the Company Car with a car allowance. The P11d value is £6k. what would be a fair allowance?

Hi fishes, what are the chances of Pwc AC bangalore rescinding an offer given the current market condition? The role in my offer letter seems to be pretty generic and during interviews, it didn't look like, they were interviewing for a particular project or team. I’ve been activity looking for new paralegal roles but my last position was working in the public sector. Some have told me that it’s a pro, others have said that it’s a con. I’m largely applying for positions in the private sector now, and I’ve found that I don’t have many of the entry level skills like e-filing that employers expect. Is there any alternative to taking on a role that is completely entry-level to gain those?
