Hello, all, I’m currently working on my bachelors in accounting. I want to work as a purchasing director, analyst, or something with finance or management. Does an accounting degree make sense?

Accounting degree will make sense for finance or management career, but not sure for purchasing career path 🤔

Thank you

I currently run a hedge fund and I and hold a bachelor of accounting degree. Degree doesn't matter. All about the mind, curiosity and your willingness to learn!

Accounting is very useful for parsing through financial statements and sniffing out bs when you are analyzing companies. So in that sense, the degree was useful to me. But I learned so much more after my accounting degree

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you get to where you are now? Where did you start?

Accounting degrees are valuable. I have a friend who started in accounting for a large REIT and made the jump to their purchasing department.
