Hello all, is the Audit Associate program at Wells Fargo in Charlotte a good way to get into banking and a way to learn valuable skills that will help make me a more in-demand employee. I want to work in banking but not sure what exact route. Would that be a good career move? Im 23 and work at Vanguard in customer service.

As an ex-auditor, audit will not lead you down a path towards banking, especially internal audit. Internal audit especially, the skills are not particularly transferable.

While audit is a potential path to investment banking, the path would typically look like this: public accounting > financial due diligence > middle market IB. this is a long path and not guaranteed. Note that public accounting is very different than internal audit

If you truly want to end up in banking your best bet is focusing on GMAT and getting into a good MBA program

Thanks for your input, i dont think i should stay in my current role and as of now that Wells job is my best option. Maybe i work that, while getting my part time MBA then make a move in like 2 years. Where were you an internal auditor?

Yes it will help, it will give you the ability to learn different parts of the business and open you up to new experiences. Not sure where all these other comments are coming from but the bank is losing people left and right so lots of opportunity. Also don't go into debt getting an MBA, have plenty of friends that did this and ended up with zero to no job progression. Get your experience and go from there.

I’m looking at applying to MBA programs and know most have veteran/military programs and clubs that seem to offer help with the admissions process. These are obviously very competitive schools and I’d like to use any resource possible, but I can’t tell if these are only intended for people transitioning from active duty. I’ve only been in the Reserve (with a deployment) and have an established civilian career. Does anyone know if these groups would be receptive to me?

I have been really contemplating leaving my company for quite sometime now. Here’s why: 1) recently went and got my MBA completed summer 21 2) I’m nowhere near the salary range I should be in 3) the role I’m currently in is a job that should be two levels(pay grades) higher than what it is 4) my boss is a very nit picky person and we do not collaborate very well at all. What is stopping me from leaving is that I have established rapport within the company, access to senior leaders, and flights
