Hello amazing people! - I recently transitioned into a "Senior" CSM role and I was hoping to get some direction with regards to continued career growth. I've navigated politics and growth decently thus far. But, it would be great to get a real framework built to continue towards a "Director" or "VP" role in the next 2-3 years.

Do any of you have suggestions or contacts in the career coach arena? Or any suggestions in general on how to get to the "next level"? I'm in Automotive FinTech / SaaS

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about this question. It depends a lot on how mature you company is but I think there are two options: keep working toward determine what’s missing from your SOP to creating a best in class experience for customers via your current role and working to develop tools and processes to support the group. Fine-tuning leadership and managerial skills isn’t necessarily paramount to success but is what makes you great in management positions.

For me - while I see a need for better leadership in my group I’m hesitant to stir the pot considering current folks in place and current politics of the office. So I’ve been looking at needs we have adjacent to customer success and am angling to lead a separate team in the future. For my company the missing link is training resources and I happen to have my own interest and aptitude for that kind of work. So what’s the missing piece at your company?

Wish I had some PA friends to vent to :( I tried to teach a new joiner about hotkeys since that’s generally how I think at this point, and got a sassy question of why it’s important to learn how to do this stuff and a vent on how she doesn’t get why the firm doesn’t give a training course on excel? She was frustrated with learning excel (fine), but the attitude was off putting. I’m gonna sound bratty, but I’m realizing more every day how hard it is to train ppl when for me it’s always “clicked”.

Looking for some advice/opinions...I have been maxing out my 401k to reduce my taxable income(and of course build the retirement nest egg), but am wondering if shifting that money to save for more investment properties would be the better way to go? Would be able to save for the down in about 16 mos, then repeat. I’m 41, so have some time before retirement, and own 2 res investment properties now. My wife and I are both W2 earners, so can’t claim RE Investment Professional status.
