The sudden death of a friend has made me realize that my obsession with goals has caused me to miss out on so much of my life. How can I learn to refocus and make time for the people in my life?

Is anyone married to someone who feels a cultural duty to support extended family? Spouse feels obligated to provide for parents, aunts, and uncles—money, time, and effort—while putting our relationship and our finances on the back burner. Will extended family always come first?

I still think of my ex. It’s been 9 months since our breakup. He cheated on me and although I walked away and never looked back, I still wonder how life is treating him. I know I deserve better. Sigh.

Idk if it’s from the years of mental/emotional abuse or lack of boundaries / respect, but seeing my family has become awkward and tough. I went home for dinner today and just like other times - we don’t talk or I have to force conversation (so plans this weekend or what you do this week). I’m the oldest and trying to set an example for my sister but it’s tough. Idk if anyone else can relate. I legit came over for 1.5 hrs and left.

My marriage is struggling and we have to pack up the kids and fake it till we make it with my in laws for most of their Christmas break. I don't want a divorce but things are not good, and it's hard to pretend they are even in front of the kids. Looking for advice I guess, or just a kind word. Really don't want the in-laws finding out and trying to put their two cents in, and neither does she.

Can we talk about cover letters for creatives? Most agencies in the US seem to ask for them, some even going as far as asking for “nontraditional” cover letters, whatever that means. What are we meant to put in these? In the country I started in, agencies never ask for these so I don’t really know what they’re looking for. Also, what are your thoughts on attaching it as a separate doc vs just using it as the body of your email?
