Not sure what you're looking ... Sales cycle is typical similar (eval/poc/pilot) but the difference is ongoing payments. It's usually utility-based (per hour/per month/per monthly CPU/etc) so there's continued involvement/conversations and "pre-sales" doesn't end. There's usually no "big win" with a 1 or 3 year license, and if there's a long-term commitment, it's anywhere from 3 to 12 months out.

It also does vary based on IaaS/SaaS/PaaS and whatever other aaS customers are looking at.

I have got into a project a couple of months back yet no work has been assigned to me. I am not sure if this is normal in TCS. Kindly let me know. The project I was in before had a lot of work that was assigned to me. Now this stark difference is affecting me. Not sure when I will be working properly.

How do you deal with people who treat the creative department as their personal studio? I've recently joined a new business where other departments ask for quick turnaround stuff with no briefs or regard to the team's workloads or the strategy even.

I've done all the pushing back, advocating for the team, and educating those people about processes and how to get the best out of the team.

Has anyone successfully navigated this kind of situation before? How did you do it?

Disregard my fishbowl title.
I’m looking at a couple of roles in program management at
Amazon specifically in brands, seller central, VOC ads, etc
I’ve been an FBA seller myself on Amazon, have brand registry although I am not an active seller. I feel I have a really unique perspective to offer since I use Amazon as a customer and also used seller central.
I’m curious, do you think this would be an advantage to share or is it something to hide?

I had a loop interview and the result was: "You are a good fit for Amazon, just not that position." I have a second loop interview tomorrow. Any suggestions? I wish I had more feedback from my first interview.

I’ve been with my company for 5 years and have never asked for a raise, I’ve accepted annual review we get without question. I’ve now realised I’m getting paid significantly less than the market rate. I’m getting job offers with almost 40% increase. I know my male peers at my company get paid significantly more than me. I love my job and my company but I don’t know how to ask for a raise 🙈 I know I deserve it but don’t know how to ask! Any guidance please ?

I have recently made the transition from security engineer. To security sales engineering. I'm pretty green to the VAR space and I got a base salary of 130k. I didn't negotiate any kind of profit share or anything. At first I just wanted the experience. Was this dumb of me? Is my salary standard for a new SE? In. In a few months should I try to negotiate performance bonuses?

Hey everyone, French here. I’ve been coding for my all life (10-15 years) and have 6 YEO professionally (without internships). I feel like to move on in my career by upgrading to a SE/SA path. I always love problem solving and I am obsessed with detail. I don’t have any opportunity in my current company, so I am wondering where I should start to make the transition. What skills do I need? I feel like needing more responsibilities and having a valuable job.
Also, any ref?

Thanks everyone!

Hey All. I had my 2nd round interviews for a Lead Solution Engineer role at Salesforce on Monday (2 days ago). It was w/ 2 separate SEs, and I thought both interviews went very well. Have yet to hear from the recruiter, though, which seems odd. Especially given how responsive the recruiter's been prior to this.

Is that normal? Do I just need to be patient or should I mentally prepare for a rejection? Thanks!

Wondering if any of you work side gigs during your free time?
