From one HR to the other - what do we think about the level of diversity shown in this vid released by my employer earlier today? I think they‘ve done a nice job trying to feature a good mix but might‘ve actually „overdone“ it? Might be cause I’m used to male-only engineering lol https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6871427562401275904
From the moderator, for discussion. Should white males be concerned that current focus on diversity will lead to negative results If Yes, why and under what conditions If No, why not?
There’s been a rise in Diversity equity and inclusion trainings. My experience with these has always been terrible. How has your experience been? Anyone have good experiences? If yours has been terrible too, what should they have done differently?
Any Latinos feeling left out of all this diversity buzz? Seems we are always invisible :/
Anyone ever used a ride share app that employs women only? Really wish it was an option to choose gender on Uber... especially for late night rides
How do we encourage our agencies to hire based on potential, not experience? Everyone wants diversity but everyone wants cookie cutter award-winning creatives too, which often don't necessarily match
Every time I see a departing exec replaced by a white guy (coughAngelaSteele/MikeLaw) a little part of me dies inside. Every exec departure is an opportunity to increase diversity at the senior level. SMH.
Why is it diversity in the workplace for women is a recognized problem firms are trying to solve but diversity for underrepresented minorities isn't viewed as an equal priority?
I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance. I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?
What does everyone usually eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily? Please share your food journal, city, age, and (gender optional)
Do you show your human side at work? Also share your gender if you’re comfortable. I’m F and I generally do, but wondering if this is not perceived well. For example, sometimes I talk to my peers about my weekend plans, sometimes about how tired I am because of work, I recently had surgery and shared with them details about it.
DMA: Do they even acknowledge your messages? If so, what’s your gender/ethnicity? I’m a fan, but wonder if they’re selective bc of sheer volume, or I’ve been ignored bc I’m not their peeps (white/M)😔
Does anyone feel like the 'token' diversity person in a room/meeting and how do you deal with it?
Everyone: We asked for diversity and visible minorities in this video. This edit shows 90% whites dudes... The producer: The guy in the first shot is latino and there’s also an Irishman and an Australian bro at the end 😑
I fucking hate the expectation that "men must provide" or "women must act a certain way". That's damaging to a lot of relationships. I love division of labor and working with each other's strengths and weaknesses without so much emphasis on gender roles. I'm a big supporter of utilitarian relationship that strives for the good of the partnership and each party.
NYTimes headline this morning: “Firm Behind ‘Fearless Girl’ Statue Underpaid Women, U.S. Says.” Settling out $5mil in a gender/race discrimination lawsuit.
If you haven’t been around a lot of black woman in your life or have a true cultural diversity experience, your opinions on Kamala are like Trump opinions on him paying federal taxes....can’t be taking serious. Or better yet like that fly on Pence head...similar to a fly on bul****!
Great Fortune article on PwC's Chairman leading the charge on confronting race issues in America - http://fortune.com/pwc-diversity-tim-ryan/
What is it like to interview at D? Is it normal to interview with SC, M, SM before interviewing with partners? Are the virtual interviews recorded? #deloitte
Raise your hand if you've almost spilled coffee on yourself while purposely ignoring a beautiful girl in the hallway only so that she thinks that you have shit goin on in your life
Anyone else working on Black Friday because of their client? Half my agency is in because we do loyalty for a retail giant.
Few recruiters reached out to me and have been offering a hefty salary. Similar situation last year was different. I.e I see salary difference of 30 to 40% in base salary range. I am too excited to take the offer’s, but also scared that is it just momentarily and when market stabilizes they would fire folks???? The companies reaching out last year and this year are different ; none of them are big tech companies.
Quitting my job in a couple of weeks and won’t be taking search time (have another offer in hand). What are some things I should make sure I cover before I leave the firm (e.g. transfer personal docs from pc - eg immigration docs/tax docs, etc)?
Campus hire. Few months late but enrolling in my 401K and going to do a Roth, as well. I keep seeing that you should “maximize” both. What does that mean? Is there a calculation or common principle?
Hi folks! Does anyone know if you need full original copy of h1b i797 notice or just the bottom section of it for DL renewal? I only got the latter from the HR so wondering 😕
Looking for some advice on making a career switch. Currently in FP&A for a fintech company making $80k a year with a 10% bonus and options that are exercisable when the company goes public. I have been with this company a little under a year. I just received an offer to join a boutique consulting firm that would draw on my current financial and technical experience. Compensation is $100k a year with a 20% bonus. I love my current company, but is this a no brainer? Should I ask for a counter?
Please pray for me. I got fired recently 😔.
About to finish my first year in consulting right out of undergrad. I see a lot of posts on here about job hopping and getting better pay and other benefits for it. What’s the strategy behind this? Currently at a tech consulting firm and love our culture so I’m conflicted
Anybody with 3 YOE+ switch from Core tax to their international group? How was the transition? Did you have to step down a level if you were a recent senior/manager? Did you have to switch firms? Reason I ask is that I wouldn't mind delaying my promotion to manager to get international experience. Want to experience international before jumping from PA.
Need to obtain a schengen visa for travel next month but appointments are full in NYC until next month. Anyone face this? Were you able to request an appointment outside the system?
Just accepted a job at big 4, I have 1 YOE experience as a data scientist, plan is to stay for 2 years then go to MBB or masters…thoughts?
Every year I get asked to join a union. I don't think I need to, of course, until I actually need their support. What do you think?
Why do the big four keep hiring college students aggressively then fire them after a year for having low utilization. Why not just hire the amount you can actually staff
What is the big 4 pay in the Middle East at analyst consultant and manager level! Would appreciate any input! Thanks
are any agencies planning to stay fully remote?
