Hello! Are there any teachers who currently have investments? How did you get started? Or does anyone know anything about investing in education (online, public/private sectors, university)? Recommendations on where to start are welcome 😊

Check out the Dave Ramsey podcast. His book or financial program (currently free foe two weeks) taught me to invest confidently. Even though I make a teacher’s salary, I feel confident that we’ll be ok years from now because we’re following his advice. Hope it’s an encouragement!

Awesome 👍 thank you!

Definitely meet with a financial adviser. Investing in things you love (like education) is great, but not always beneficial. An adviser can help you understand all your options and help see what will be the most beneficial in your individual situation.

I’m recently divorced, so I feel ya! Time to get life in order 😉

Getting started is the hardest part. Best financial advice I ever got:
Open a conservative money market account asap, one with checks attached to it. Put $100 per month in it, then put half of every raise or increase in revenue in it, more when you can, never less. Hold this pattern, until you hit investing 8% of your net income. This serves as a rainy day fund, keep at least 3 months income in this account.
Now expand your portfolio with professional advice.

See, I like this idea. I’ve been able to increase my contribution to AXA every year by $100, but I’m no longer employed after this school year.

My biggest problem is staying employed... I’m frustrated because I don’t feel I can make consistent contributions 😥

Yes I do. My parents started me in the stock market when I was a child. Get a good Financial advisor, (we use Edward Jones), and get started. My District has 403b plans which I pay into, and my husband’s previous job had 401K which he continues to have. My kids are all invested in the stock market, my teenager has been picking some of her stocks since she was 10, and meeting with the Financial advisor as well.
Start with a set amount a month, and try to increase it every time you get a salary increase. Be diversified though and know your risk level. I haven’t even looked at my investments, other than a passing glance in the last 2 months because I know its been bad, but it will come back.

Your welcome and good luck. Remember is this a long term investment and you can’t sweat the downs too much...stuff generally does come back.

Hey everyone,
I have a second round interview with a saas company selling education software. This interview will be a 30 minute zoom call with the VP of sales. I am someone from a non- traditional background with 2 years of sales-ish roles but no experience in tech sales and no straight forward sales job.
I did a tech sales bootcamp. Im just worried about what questions he will ask me? Im thinking more technical in terms of sales processes and even sales funnels? Any thoughts?

Hot take, for those who received a stimulus based on FY19 or FY18 returns why doesn’t the government make people pay it back in the FY20 return if they don’t qualify based on the actual tax year stimulus was for? I understand why they couldn’t wait but IrS knows who received it so it isn’t hard to implement. Could have used the anticipated saving coming back to fund more stimulus for those who truly needed it.

Anyone sourcing or recruiting engineers?
I started with a company recruiting logistics professionals... They've doubled my work load and transitioned me into recruiting electrical engineers with security clearances ( so much more strict criteria), but my pay is the same.

I am getting ready to ask for a raise, but curious what you think I should be making?
I work completely remote and have surpassed all my quarterly goals this year.

My school is a small rural school. We don’t offer many in-house electives. What’s happening is students are having to take whatever is there to fill their schedules. If they aren’t interested in the class, then it becomes an opportunity for disruptions because they aren’t interested. What are some electives you have at your school that are new, innovative and interesting for todays high school students?
