Hi All!
I am currently a Senior Software Engineer(Backend) with 4 YOE. My current CTC is 21LPA (All Fixed) with additional Yearly bonus. I got a call from Google (Pune/Bangalore/ Remote) for Software Engineer - Backend. I have the following doubts but any insights are welcome -
1. Does the lower designation offered make any difference?
2. Kinda ambiguous, but what kind of hike or ballpark pay can I expect?
3. Any similar interviews experiences or focus areas I should prepare for?

Operations manager...student? Kind of confused. Feel free to give a bio
I always got great responses when I asked, “what’s your favorite thing about your job and what’s your least favorite thing about your job?"
With big 4, the only hard thing is getting in. I’d recommend applying a year in advance if when you want to start work...that way you’ll have at least one or two interview/hiring cycles. Are you currently at an accredited 4 year university? Does your school currently have ties to Big4 PA?
I work for a small family-owned ice cream shop and I am also a full time student. Currently a junior. I have worked in AR/AP in the past at a startup.
If they tell you something about themselves play off that and try to ask a follow up question..
Obviously nothing to personal but during interviews at the firm where I first started I spoke with the audit partner about basketball for 50% of the time after he mentioned the league he played in and I noticed a trophy in his office...
Most of the interview process at these lower level positions is the interviewer trying to confirm you're a normal human being who fits the culture and is someone that others will enjoy working with.
I'm looking for questions to ask for an interview. What are some questions I should avoid?
What investments are you making in your people? Only ask this if you know they’re doing it
How does the company measure success. I almost always ask that one.
Ask questions that are more specific to things happening in the office/region you’re applying to. You could try asking about what resources they have to be prepared for whatever industry trend is happening in your area
Are you looking for questions to ask in an interview? Or are these more informal mentorship type meetings?
Yes, I go to an accredited 4 year University. The big4 recruite here and also may mid tiers.
Well if you’re struggling there, big 4 might not be a good fit.
Travel, culture, work life balance, advancement opportunity, typical day, what will my first 30/60/90 days look like, can I get involved in recruiting, an I assigned a mentor etc
^^ true. The only bad questions are the ones you don’t ask.
^adding on to this comment - just do your research on the firm, you’ll impress recruiters and those working in the firm with equipped knowledge that they themselves don’t even know. I always find that opens up discussion. Also, people love talking about themselves so you cater your questions to the individuals that work in the service line you’re particularly interested in. Pick at their brains by asking “day in the life” type Qs
