Junior associate second chairing a trial with a Partner in a few weeks. It’s my first time having any sort of involvement in prep and the actual trial. What do you wish you knew/did at your first trial? Partners, what can second chair associates do to make things go smoother?

Advice: how to manage a reapplication as a R3 applicant who was waitlisted and finally dinged last week. I want to apply R1 to the same school (feel like this shows commitment) and I have an improved GRE score but otherwise not much in my profile has materially changed since it’s only been 3-4 months since I last applied... I will have 1 different recommender and 1 of 2 essays will be revamped. How else should I approach this? Anything I’m missing?

The small firm I work for has a terrible turn over rate and I think it is in part due to the firm owner/managing attorney. He seems oblivious to this and always finds fault with the people who leave. Is there any good way to approach this with him or am I better off keeping my mouth shut? I’m Have been an RN for three years. I have worked in the prison system for over two years. I recently applied and was offered a job in the ICU/CCU. Which I would love to try this new adventure. I like to look at pros and cons. Pros of the Prison my boss recognizes my hard work, I have great pay, and a great schedule. Cons-there is at times unequal distribution of duties, some bad attitudes with some of the staff. PPE is not always easy access, who knows who. What’s your thoughts?
