I am contemplating a move to industry (PE firm) and currently in PA. It’s a tax director role.

My fear is that my technical skills won’t grow as fast as in PA since the consulting work would be outsourced and I would mostly be a liaison for the advisors. Tax technical is very important to me.

Any advice regarding leading a mid-level male team that simply will not accept feedback... or being lead for that matter. It’s constant teeth pulling to get simple, effective changes made to work and they act as though any constructive criticism, is a personal attack. There’s a lack of respect and a mightier than though attitude. I always try to be as kind as possible in reviews and over email, aware of how sensitive they are. Sometimes it feels like if I had a dick, there wouldn’t be an issue.

How are people getting promoted every 2 years at these startups? I'm at a startup too and have been kicking ass, but due to our old school mentality (CEO and leadership is ex old company) people only get promoted in like 4-5 years.
I'm tired of working so hard and owning so much scope that's P&L relevant, only to have a shitty title, sad salary and no perks.
I want a real bonus, real perks, real title bumps.

I asked 3 of my higher ups to write me letters of recommendation a month ago when I put in my resignation. I went on PTO for a couple weeks & followed up with my manager today. He told me “actually I was told we aren’t allowed to write them for you. Sorry.”
