I am terrible at negotiating salary because I often undervalue myself. Looking for thoughts on base comp ranges for the following: - 12 YOE (mostly in industry) - ETL, analytics, and BI heavy experience (SQL) - Technical background but a lot of business/ops team interaction as well - Leaving B4 consulting to go back to industry - Prefer Senior IC role, but overseeing 1 - 3 jr analysts ok - Live in a LCOL state - 5+ years remote working experience - fintech, martech exp - some python/r
Anyone work at UHY? What's the culture like? How are the hours in busy season /non busy season? Do you work from home at all? I know they are back in the office. What's the dress code (I'm used to jeans and a golf shirt lmao)? Do the managers welcome new methods of preparing returns? Are they afraid of tech / make you prove out your formulas?
Wanted to work from home today but my manager told me otherwise. No good reason other than needing me at her side as she reviews work. I guess phones, Instant message, and webex aren't enough!
What’s your WFH outfit looking like? I’ve been sticking to a polo up top since I do some video conferences, but it’s been PJs and joggers down low
Whats your go-to meal when cooking a quick lunch while WFH? Lately I’ve been making roasted sheet pan veggies (sweet potatoes, red onions, broccoli, asparagus and seasoning) and it’s epic. 20 minutes on medium heat and then 5 on broil. Love it!
Just curious, what are all the B4 policies on the vaccine and how they are accommodating for personnel WFH?
Anyone else tired of the assumption that because you’re a partner you have to think a certain way and believe certain things. I’m talking about wokeness, work from home, and the recent ever constant pushing of the needle to the left or risk getting “cancelled”. I’m fairly liberal politically so for me to be saying this I think may say something for the current climate. I should be able to hold and express my own opinions without being quashed because I’m not “woke” enough.
Boss just emailed expecting team to work over weekend. Already spent 60h this week staring at screens WFH. Should I just ignore?
With all this extra, often unnecessary, communication while my company works remote, I’ve been having an awful time getting actual work done. So I’ve started to block off major chunks of my day every morning and put up an autorespond message saying I’m focusing on a deliverable, but will be available to respond at x time and if it’s an emergency to text. HOLY SHIT. What a game changer. I can actually get work done guilt free. I realize not everyone is able to do this, but if you can, do it.
I'm returning back to the office this week after too long of a time being comfortable wfh. Ready to quit without a backup plan and am okay with it.
Can anyone speak to culture of the EC/VC and M&A groups at WSGR? Looking at remote positions. Thanks!
My firm (nyc) has been back in office since September. We still have WFH policy but it feels like if you’re choosing to WFH even one day a week you’re slacking. Anyone else?
For all teachers and admin! Please check out this resource to help kids transition back after remote learning and hybrid models. Made by a teacher (me) who did remote learning all year. There is a paralegal (not mine) in my firm that is making everyone miserable. She cries at her desk, complains about being overworked and is rude to the other paralegals, staff, and a couple of the attorneys. She is so disrespectful to me that I recently asked to work from home for a month (I am dealing with some other mental health issues and she is too much). My request was granted, and last Friday I was in the office to make sure several motions were filed properly. Continued in comment:
WFH vs RTO: I started compiling a list from what I’ve seen on Fishbowl so I can figure out which agencies I’m going to hit up for a more flexible work policy. Please add any other agency info you have or correct any I got wrong. Thanks! Nov 1 mandate - DDB & Havas - 3 days in FCB - 3 days in, starting? Laughlin Constable in since June - 2 days a week CK Jan 1 - pick 2 days in office Ogilvy - sometime in 2022 DentsuMB - sometime in 2022 VSA - never
Could someone please direct me to resources that explain/demonstrate how to teach any elementary subject ( including Specials) simultaneously when your school has no webcams, your Smart Board is to be used as the monitor to see the remote students and the in-person students are not allowed to use technology? Or, if this is your situation, share how you are set up delivering lessons under these 3 conditions.
Interviewed with Apple 6 months back (finished the final round) and did not hear from them (ghosted), the hiring manager sent me a text asking me to chat about more openings. Was I "friend-zoned" last time?
Any other consulting firms sent memos to their employees about new H1B guidelines? Essentially no more alt travel for H1B holders and at least one day a week in the home office?!? :-0
Hi Everyone I am currently working in a fintech company since 2 months but due to toxic work culture I'm planning to shift ,I have 2 years account management experience and I was wondering if any of you guys could help me get a CSM Or Account Management profile.? In any SAAS or other companies. Help would be appreciated as it's getting really difficult day by day to stay in this company.
I'm so frustrated. I've been working for 10 years and I can't get an interview for Senior AD roles, but I get tons of enthusiastic calls for Intermediate ones. Im doing the work of a senior now - concepting alone, working direct with clients, guiding the odd junior - and I do a lot of stuff for the community at large that shows leadership (like conference stuff). I've had CDs review my book and they say my work is great. Why can't I land a senior job? I want to manage, I have good ideas. WTF?
When you arrive early for an interview, but it’s almost 20 mins past the scheduled start time & your interview hasn’t started yet. Should I just try to reschedule or wait it out?
Anybody have experience with DoD sales? Would love to hear how you establish and grow your business.
Would you continue to interview for a role after the hiring manager tells you the salary cap and it’s below what you’d accept? Is there usually still room room to negotiate later on?
For those that fly Southwest, do you ever book business select or just buy cheapest fare?
Has anyone had SPG points deposited into their account for stays that happened weeks or months ago (and were deposited correctly at the time of stay). Not complaining, anyone else double dipping?
Accenture folks in Europe: what is a realistic bonus % that consultants and managers typically achieve in Strategy? Heard that despite a max threshold of 20% most people achieve something like 5%-10%; is that true? What does it take to achieve the max %? Thanks in advance!
Is it true that anyone moving from Big 4 strat groups to MBB has to accept a downgrade in level/title? As in SM/Director/Sr. Dir to engagement mgr/PL. Do you know of people who moved without a "demotion?
I'm home grown and know I'm below market...always eases my mind when potential for layoffs arise. I don't try to get paid less for this reason, but it is nice.
I hope most of us can agree on the below as fellow Americans: -Any group wanting to cause harm to people or a specific group of people have no place in our country. -Clearly our country is hurting and needs productive dialogue at the community, state, and national level from both sides. -One side is never right. MSNBC, Fox News, and CNN are also rarely right. -We’re in dire need of empathy and care for one another regardless of political views, race, geographic location, gender, etc.
Taking some time off. Need some book recommendations. Some light interesting non-fiction. No self help or management books. Just interesting topics that won’t make me think about work.
Looking to move firms from the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest to be closer to family next fall. when would I start applying? Should send introduction/exploratory emails before?
Hey fellow Fishes! I have an Amazon Project management interview coming up. The first phone interview is in another 2 weeks. Any insights on how I should prepare and any resources that I can utilize?
Has anyone from EY been notified by EY Law that their petition has been filed with USCIS? I got the H1B selection notification 3 weeks ago and haven’t heard from EY Law since.
