Hi Everyone, will appreciate some likes! Thank you!!
Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

People moving to SF - if you’re into cycling, I would recommend living in laurel heights, presidio, pac heights, Polk gulch, marina, cow hollow, etc. Much easier to get to headlands and far safer doing it on a bike from these areas.
I toured that building a couple of months ago. Technically it’s not in Hayes Valley. Market St can get a bit shady at night. While the apartment itself seemed fine, I didn’t go ahead with it because of the area.
I looked it up on the map. While Hayes Valley is a cool and central neighborhood, 3-4 blocks radius of that building is rather dodgy. I think you can find a better apartment in this market.
I don’t know what your budget is but if you are set on Hayes Valley, I would look at buildings like Avalon and Alchemy.
Hey! I am moving to SF from NYC too! Anyone know how to find a month-long short term lease? Airbnb has limited options :-(
Thank you that’s helpful
Hayes valley is cool IMO. Lots of shops and dining. Preppy but less frat bro-y than the marina
Hayes is hit or miss, if you’re near Market it can get pretty sketch at night and the area is completely dead since it’s near SOMA and all the offices are in the area and life is still very much WFH so everything in general closes up pretty early, I would try a bit more inner Hayes, maybe close to Lower Haight or near Duboce Triangle. We moved from nyc to SF and we were first placed in temp housing in SOMA, I think a number one mistake a lot of newcomers do is explore the edge of Hayes or Lower Nob (aka Tender Nob) so def do your research!
Most serious real estate brokers will refuse to rent you a place sight-unseen. I think that might be the local law, as I got that feedback from multiple brokers when I made the same move
There isn’t a local law.. it’s just their own best practice.
I live in this building! DM me
Actually, so do I now :)
