Hello everyone! How would you answer an interview question “describe a time during when you had to do the right thing” in a span of 2 minutes?

This is an ethics question, not an "I made a mistake and fixed it" question. They are looking for you to identify an ethical issue that you addressed appropriately.

This question can be tricky because it can reveal a lot about you. Try to keep it short. Also, you don't have to tell them a real case! It is ok to make up a case that will make you look good. Recruiters won't know!

That standing for someone being bullied was in my school days 10 years ago 😂

It's usually about admitting that you have messed up on something that caused an impact either financially or to a deadline but you spin it around taking accountability to ensure the impact was minimal or remedied.
In college that might be missing something you had to due for a team project that created waste or rework for someone else, but you fessed up, stepped up and came out with a good grade after all.

It could also be about giving the recommendation nobody expected or wanted but strategically it was the right thing for the betterment of the company. That could even be layoffs or raising prices. They're interested in knowing how you knew it was the right thing and how you approached it to make sure you had the buy in.

Thank you so muchh! So i have two on my mind and I am confused as to which one would be better:
1. I once ccd a professor (from our teams email distro) in one of the emails i sent out to a potential student. And in the email I mentioned his full name but didnt mention his title. He replied being upset about the whole email writing and also not addressing his email. and I remember it was after 5 pm. I quickly went to my manager and made sure she is aware of the situation. I personally reached out to the professor apologizing for the honest mistake, and had one on one with my managers on how we can address the situation better and write better emails

Another one was the fact that I felt I was overworking for my team’s behalf with other teammates not working up to their hours/potential. I addressed this situation with the managers and they had a one on one with the respective team members

This one is more appropriate than the first, but I think you might be able to do better or spin it differently. Like someone below mentioned it's really about your ethics and judgment. In this case it's good that you stood up for yourself and held your team accountable but it could also be perceived that you went straight to tattling instead of trying to work cohesively with your team and have the difficult conversation with them directly.

Which one should i go about? Or should i come up with a better one

Think of times where there may have been a conflict of interest, or you observed an injustice or you stood up for yourself and did the right thing.

There was a recent incident that happened with me which Im thinking of using in this conversation. It was basically that I was wrongly graded 0 for one of my assignments as he thought I copied someone else’s assignment whereas I ran all the codes in my system and did the assignment by myself. Although I have referred a seniors assignment but the codes and homework was all done by me. I have retrieved the files and noted down the timings which is saved on my computer back up on when i ran the file and also the time of screenshots i had taken in the assignment. With all my proofs, ill have a conversation showing all my evidence hoping that he will see the evidence and re consider my grade. Can i use this example?

This is a good one for something along the lines of a time when you disagreed with someone in authority and how did you handle it and what was the outcome. It could also start to create doubt in your interviewers mind around "what if he is a cheater" so I would probably not use this for the ethics question.

Think of this way, you want the interviewer to walk away from this really liking you as a person. Is there a time you stood up for someone being mistreated, even though you risked ridicule yourself? I think that could be an excellent answer that shows great character and confidence.

Can you guys share your answer to what you might say.. the time limit is only 2 minutes

That depends entirely upon your own experiences. It's very telling of your character and especially your integrity. It's a very vital value that we should uphold. Situations like these require critical thinking.

Hello Guys,

I joined
Cognizant recently, the project interview calls which I am getting is not from my base location.
I have the location constraint, should I wait for the right opportunity or raise this concern to ADP team so they can look in to it?

As per ADP policy, one should not have any constraints and take the project as FCFS basis.

I interviewed for an in-house role and thought it went well. The position was removed from the company website and from LinkedIn a week later. Got a call from the recruiter saying there would be a delay in the decision, but that I was still being considered. The job has been reposted. Bad news?

Hello All ,

I am switching my profile from data analyst to data engineer focusing on azure right now.

Any azure data engineer in the group can help me with what are the important topic in respect to job interview .

And except azure dedicated services what other tec skills i need .

Should I reapply to a job that was just reposted?

I interviewed with a company a couple months ago and made it to the final round but no offer. I asked for feedback but wasn't given any.

"Unfortunately, we’ve decided to go in another direction at this time. However, if things change, we’ll be sure to reach back out."

A recruiter reached out to me yesterday for the same exact role. I've since added a few skills to my resume (even though I was a perfect match skill-wise the first time).

L&D professionals, how often do you expect your employees to participate in soft skill training?

A VP wants our employees going through monthly soft skills training on widely divergent topics, mandatory attendance. I think it will feel like a good investment initially, but the employees are going to get overloaded with information and not have an opportunity to put what they're learning into practice leading to poor ROI. It would help to hear other's findings so we can decide. Thanks!
