I'm a petroleum engineer who has mainly worked in the field, only a bit of BD but never into sales until couple months ago, when I got the opportunity to join a startup. I'd like to engage in networking conversations to get to know how engineers perform in sales!

Can I go from PE to consulting? I am a mid career PE professional. Mostly in growth capital. I always had wanted to spend some time in strategy consulting. But in undergrad I failed to get an offer, despite making it to final round at nearly all the MBBs. Later I went to b school but it was not a target school for consulting. Now I am more than ten years in finance. Can I try to get an experienced hire role in consulting given PE experience? Is that nuts? Is this “grass is greener” syndrome?

Has anyone left big 4 with nothing lined up because it was best for your mental health? Senior 1 not sure why it says I’m a staff.

Moving to RSM from EY GDS. Is it a right decision?

What’s your take on counteroffers? I recently was offered a role at a growing company (Recent IPO) with what looks like a bright future. The downside is it’s a lat move doing sim work with small increase to base but additional bonus and RSUs that won’t vest for 3 years. Main reason I was leaving current role was due to boredom and wanting a change. Recent restructuring at current place has opened opp’s and they countered with a promotion and 30% bump with all new responsibilities/path. Thoughts?
