How much is retail supervisor pay this days?
When the job is offered, if they put $85k you can say this was your minimum salary for dollar amount. You would like to discuss compensation packages, stock options, etc to bring up the offer to market level of $98k.
I did this and was successful with my negotiation
I hope you get the offer and then you can counter. I would honestly aim for 95 to 100k! You can totally say that you've now learned more about the role and better understand the scope of work and have updated your range and feel that it is appropriate given the work and your experience. You got this! ❣️
How is it going, friend? Did you get the salary you wanted? XO
Whoever gives the number first loses.
Absolutely try for $90, worst they can say is no. Frame it as “I did some further research and realized the appropriate pay for this role is closer to $90k”
Thank you!! Will do!!
Try for 95. They may offer you 95, if not 90. If you have a second offer, that may help as well. But be confident in your ask.
Always negotiate. I was given a range when I interviewed and asked for 20k above that and got it. If you are at the point were you have an offer, they want you. Hiring is hard and expensive for companies. They might even come back with a formal offer at 90, feel free to negotiate.
First rule of negotiation do your research well on what the market is paying for the role. Then decide a number you want to land at. So if you want ti land at $90 then state $95K-$100K. Always give a range if you are forced to give an answer. It allow you revisit your offer. On top of that they will negotiate on the offer. Tell them you would love to be part of the team and looking forward to joining the organization. However in order to do that the pay needs to be aligned with what the market pays for someone with your level of experience and competencies. Ask for $98K and let the company worry about how they want to fund the $98K salary. Negotiate on vacation days, ask about signing bonus, ask them about bonus payout and when is the next merit and bonus cycle and whether or not you’ll be eligible for this increases. It will let you know when to expect your next increase. If your next increase in 1.5 yrs then I’d say stand your ground and ask for $98K. If you’ll be part of the regular cycle then it’s upto you if you want to accept less and wait for the next opportunity to ask for more.
Try for 90K. Good luck 👍🏼
Go for 98k that you found on glassdoor
Can you describe the job alittle more? Entry level for 90k? How old are you/how much experience do you have?
2 years experience as project coordinator or project manager ? And do you have master’s ?
When the offer comes in, if it’s for $85K, make sure you look at the total package including benefits, etc. You can go back to the recruiter with “After looking at the total offer and the responsibilities in the job description, I was thinking $90K was more in line with the value I’d bring to the role.”
85 is not a range
Imagine my gravestone-
‘This gravestone is 3% higher on the right’
Go for 90K. Just say “after crunching the numbers I really need to be making 90k”. I just did this for my upcoming role and it worked.
You can also use your current comp as leverage if you are trying to get a new job while you still have one - “I know I said $85K when we talked, but I didn’t realize that the benefit premiums, 401K match, and PTO were so far behind what I currently have in terms of total compensation. I’m definitely still interested in the role, but the offer would need to be closer to $95,000 to make up for what I’d be losing.”
Say transparently, you feel that 95k would be more in line with what you’d be happy with. I would ask now, not later.
Sheesh 110 is the number to ask for
Salary range is just that , a range. In the future actual give them a range of say $85-$95k or whatever the lowest amount you want for the job. That way you aren’t tied to a specific number.
In your case, once offered the job, they may actually offer you more than the 85k you named. If not, tell them that after learning more about the position and after your over all market research about your job title you fell the appropriate pay is $95k. They should counter offer back with something in the 90k range.
5k is nothing ask for it
Should have said $85k-$100k
Ypu absolutely can, you can pivot as say that based on the scope you are looking for more. 5k is not a huge bump and most if the time budget had wiggle room of 15-20k depending on the role.
