Hello, everyone!

I have an interview for a relatively new law firm early next week. However, upon doing more research about them, I noticed that their website has only a black-and-white website about only what the law firm is about.

My questions are:

Is this a red flag?
How do you guys prepare for interviews specifically with law firms that have little to some information on their website and Glassdoor?

Thank you so much in advance!

Definitely not a red flag if it’s a new firm and or small firm. I’m also dealing with this issue.. read up on the partners or whomever you will be interviewing with. The firm im interviewing with doesn’t have a Glassdoor/indeed. Trust your instincts on how the interview goes/how well they treat you and how the other employees treat you.

Congrats on landing the interview! In terms of that being a red flag, always do your due diligence. Reach out to anyone that may have previously been associated with the firm, and ask them about how their time helped them gain skills, grow their career, etc. Make sure you don’t sign yourself up without a backup plan in case things don’t go to your liking.

In terms of interview prep, above all the interviewer wants to know if you’re a good fit for the firm and then the role. Make sure you can recite exactly what you’re applying for in terms of role responsibilities and emphasize how your education and experience makes you an exemplary fit for their needs and culture.

Is it appropriate to email a hiring manager for an update? I emailed HR on Monday. I had an interview two weeks ago (the third interview) for a position I really want. I haven’t heard anything and I keep checking the status and I’m not rejected yet. I thought about emailing the director who I initially interviewed with today since I haven’t heard from HR.

Hey,

I interviewed for a practice manager position. This was an interview with the director. This went well. She now wants me to meet with the staff and doctors in person for a second round.

Anyone that’s ever done this, can you let me know what to expect? The types of questions to ask the doctors. How I should be interacting with the staff as their prospective manager?

Working at small firm for 7 years. They created a new Staff Manager position to supervise and train the support staff in 1 office and other internal operation tasks. They promoted a paralegal into the position. They just asked me to take on the training across all offices because the Staff Manager is doing 50% paralegal work due to turnover. I told them if I were to take on a task of a manager, I should get a promotion and raise to do the task. They did not agree. What do you think?
