Hello, I need advice on salary negotiations at my current employer. Got offered a HR management role @ $62k a year. The average salary in SLC is $73k. Someone less than 1 year of experience earns $69k. I’m also PHR certified and have 5+ years of progressive experience in all functions of HR. Need help figuring how much we can afford to spend on a mortgage each month. HHI is ~210k and we have no debt. If we put 20% down on a 650k house, the monthly payment would be ~$3200 (~35% of take home income, after taxes + 401k). Is this fair or will we be house poor? Can we do more or should we stick at this price range? No kids yet but planning for them in next 5 years. We have a roommate who would move with us but I don't want to depend on that for paying the mortgage.

I’ve been interviewing with This company for over a month. Had my 3rd round a couple weeks ago and didn’t hear back until yesterday. They wanted to interview me today which was just another to see if I had an questions, mentioned what I’d be doing and I’d hear by end of day. Have yet to hear and again not sure.
