Hello everyone, I know someone looking for some perspective, so I’m taking a poll. Would you:
Does anyone have any insight into Alvarez and Marsal's healthcare industry group? What is compensation (base + bonus at the analyst and/or associate level), WLB, culture, and travel like in this group?
How do you balance getting tasks done/hitting billables but also your mental health? I have a report due today but I am desperately needing a mental health day to avoid a total breakdown.
Noob to investing here... if I’m optimistic about a stock, I go long 100 shares and buy a put as insurance. If the stock goes up I make money and if it goes down I limit my losses. What’s the catch?
Hi! I currently work as an SDR Manager in the healthcare technology industry and I am beginning to explore outside opportunists. With that being said, I would greatly appreciate recommendations of great companies to work for in the healthcare industry. I’m interested in pursuing Account Executive positions or SDR leader type roles. Thanks!
Grandma is visiting US for 6 months. Most insurance coverages for her age are expensive and don’t cover many ailments. She is fit with no pre-existing conditions. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
Why do people go to CPA's for investment and insurance advice? It drives me insane. I don't give tax advice even though I'm a CFP.
I feel so burned out. Are there part time jobs out there that offer health insurance? I don’t think I can keep up the full time anymore
Help requested: my older brother (male in his 30s in NYC) is relatively high risk for getting COVID due to his job and underlying health but he keeps procrastinating on getting the vaccine. He doesn’t want to admit it, but I have a high suspicion it’s because he’s very afraid of needles and shots (but doesn’t want to admit it). How should I best support him?
Any thoughts on Redesign health? Senior manager / director level, focus on broader strategy / corp dev and interested in type of work, culture, comp, WLB and interview process
I'm a healthcare manager with about 3 YOE. I have recently gotten interested in consulting, but I am a little lost in how to get started. I have 2 masters (non MBA) which seems to preclude me from any top firm. Does anyone have some general advice on late entry into consulting?

I am looking for new opportunities within finance preferably within healthcare but am open to other similar roles. Any job recommendations or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Happy Friday!
Has anyone left healthcare and is now really happy? I’m an MSN, RN with 12 years hospital experience. I’m burned out and tired of making crap pay. I have an opportunity outside of healthcare that would pay more and challenge me in new ways that I haven’t experienced before. It’s a total shift that would really heal my work-life balance, job satisfaction and budget. My only fear is that I would not be using the license and degree that I worked so hard for. I would appreciate any input!!!!
Does anyone here in a health system have insurance that covers fertility assistance or get paid parental leave? Really like my position at my hospital but as we start to plan a family - I'm nervous about the cost. Just looking around regionally - it looks like most health systems don't cover this.
Someone please refer me to tcs or big 4 /big 3 or any good company where I will get health insurance .

Does anyone have experience with apartment complex that wouldn’t fix a maintenance issue? In my case the water pipe in my bathroom is making so much noise 24/7 I can barely sleep at night. Maintenance is very slow/wouldn’t fix it. Is there a way I can put pressure on them?

Anyone transition from law firm litigation to in-house commercial counsel? If so, was it a tough transition? Overall a good move to make?
Started an in-house job after leaving a firm. I love it. Looking back on my old job, I now realize how gaslighted and manipulated I was. People at the new job treat me with such respect, it feels amazing (also sad that my bar is now so low).
As a result, I'm super motivated to do a good job and deliver, but this is a BIG job, one where I can't come close to clearing my plate every week. I'm working 12 hour days to be as responsive as I can, but I know that's a recipe for burnout. Advice?
How different is litigating in-house vs. in private practice? I’m tired of litigating in private practice and am contemplating a move to an in-house litigation role with a public university—but the pay will definitely be less, so I don’t want to make the switch if it is going to just be the same hamster wheel. Any one made the jump and have thoughts/advice?
When do you need to be admitted to the state that your are practicing as in house counsel? I can’t find a deadline but my in house gig in another state starts soon. Thanks!
What can I expect at a Google Product Counsel interview?? Do the questions change the further along I go?
Curious to know what others think about the importance of both firm and in-house experience for mid-level positions. I do not have previous large firm experience (did practice as a sole practitioner for several years though - IP, entertainment law) but have five years of demonstrated success as an in-house attorney. Many mid-level postings prefer/require both firm and in-house experience. Is my experience disqualifying from such postings?
How did you adjust to the document management system of your company after being at a law firm? I recently jumped in-house from 8+ years of biglaw and am flabbergasted at how this major public company’s legal department just throws everything into a shared drive, there are no versioning capabilities for documents, etc.
Need advice: Received a race and gender discrimination complaint from an employee involving 2 company C-level execs, one of them to whom I report. Usually I would conduct my own internal investigation. Since this involves the highest levels, I can’t escalate it, I’m not an employment law expert, I’m a generalist. My plan is to involve our outside employment counsel. Usually I go through one of the execs before interacting with outside counsel. (Continued in comments)
Can someone please explain to me the differences between corporate counsel, legal counsel, and associate counsel?
Any in-house attorneys ever consider going into (or back to) private practice at a firm? What are your pro/con arguments? What terms would you consider most important in your decision to go to a firm? For context - I'm 15 YOE and have worked in government, a very large firm, and most recently in-house. My firm experience wasn't good, but that firm is a machine and doesn't treat attorneys well. Appreciate all the great perspectives from this group.
What areas of legal experience are most helpful to working in-house? Are there particular areas of law you’ve encountered that you wish you knew more about for your role?
Anyone at Amazon Arlington, VA office or Washington, DC office that can speak to office culture?
In house interviews:
I finished a final round of interviews and was expecting a final decision after the interviews. Rather than yes or no, the recruiter told me that the feedback is positive but they need to interview one more candidate to compare since I am the first one interviewed. And they wanted to add one more meeting with their new team member starting next week. Is this common and what’s the best way to deal with this unexpected message? Thanks!
Do people really ever get jobs through cold interviews from job postings? I’ve been trying it for years, done alot of third-round interviews and such, all generally positive experiences, but every job I’ve ever landed has involved a personal recommendation, warm intro, or someone I’ve worked with at a previous role or as a competitor, etc. A fair number of the jobs I’ve notice go “unfilled” with postings remaining up for months or years after. Most places draw out the process 2+ months.
Those in-house, do you find you had more autonomy in firms? E.g., at firms if I was slow I just took the day off — w/o formally telling anyone — or ran an errand middle of the day and came back and made up the hours. This doesn’t seem possible in-house. It feels like a true “on the clock.” Anyone else?
Anyone have a success story about moving in house after 10+ years of practice? Please provide details about your prior practice area, in-house position, region, when you moved, anything you did to market yourself, length of time of your search, etc. Thanks!
(Note I am not looking for anyone to remind me that 6-8 years was the sweet spot. That time has passed so not helpful to me now.)
