Do you want to add numbers in excel or look for signatures on documents?
They are drastically different roles. As a staff accountant, you can always transition to IA later - would be harder to do that the other way around. I see being a staff accountant as offering more versatility. However, if you already know you don’t like accounting, IA can give you more versatility to meet other people in the business to transition into non-accounting roles. You’ll definitely continue to feel like an auditor in IA (stating the obvious), while accounting will get you into close, into the details, etc. There is definitely an added benefit to having that experience. I realize it’s hard to think long term but once you dive in your opportunities will open up and you’ll have a clearer picture of what does and doesn’t interest you.
Thank you so much!
No month end close with IA lol
