1st year/stub in Texas. I was a summer at my firm in both 2019-2020. Thought I preferred litigation, and told the firm that last summer. Had a change of heart, and in April of this year asked the CTO to switch to transactional. However, she said they didn’t have a need for another junior in transactional. Now I’m in lit and hate it. Can I ask to switch again? When would be the best time to do so? Or should/can I lateral as a 1st yr? I like my firm, just don’t want to start my career like this

Obviously consulting is a very big field for a reason. Curious how consultants consult on things they don’t have expertise on? A lot of companies have a lot of PhD level of subject level experts, what do consulting firms provide that the corporations don’t provide internally? I remember I was surprised talking to a friend who worked for pwc consulting consulting on a chemical project of a company, since he def is not a chemist by any means.

After nearly 20 years in the military serving in T&E and HR roles, I’m considering moving on and have been conducting lots of research into consulting. BS, MA, and SPHR cert - no MBA. I’m looking for suggestions or advise about transitioning. DC Metro area is likely landing spot.

My H1B visa got stamped last year after 2.5 years of wait due to petition/RFE/Covid. There was no onsite slot in my project to travel due to resource cut. My India salary was less (13 lpa) and I was only getting promises for travel. Finally I decided to resign and got an offer (28 lpa). What does the recruiting process look like at McKinsey & Company ? I had a Mck DnA recruiter reach out in August saying he liked my profile and application will open in Nov/Dec. I’m on some email list and he’ll inform me about it. Then I attended a FLF event and another recruiter reached out saying she finds my profile fit for Implementation. I have call scheduled with her tomorrow to further discuss this. Another recruiter from Austin wants me to attend virtual sessions and connect. Is this normal?

Quick question for my DTS travelers: if I don’t wanna take part of a flight back from a school that I’m attending, can I just push the flight in United without any repercussions? I’m looking for a mentor in the tech / start up industry at the moment. I’ve been in HR for around 2-3 years and currently working in fintech for 8 months. I love the tech industry and I love how fast paced everything is. I started my career working alongside a manager that wasn’t always present and now working in HR alone. I’ve never really known if what I’m doing is right,I’d really appreciate being able to lean on and be mentored by someone who is a HR leader in the same kind of environment.

We just added 2 week paid parental leave as a benefit for this year, however I just started with the company and there was no process put in place. How do you all have yours set up? Is there a time off policy that employees use so that hours are allocated under that policy? Do they work directly with your leave management provider? Any information would be much appreciated. I'm working in a company that I like, but I'm been quite underpaid. We recruited a new recruiter with a salary 25% more than the one I'm in. I've been approached by other companies, but I wouldn't like to leave, the only reason I would consider moving to a new job is the salary. Should I be open and discuss it with my LM? The formal salary review process is approaching in 2 months, but no way I could get a good salary increase in the formal process, I believe the max could be 6%-7%.

I am a HR Generalist, I was called into my managers office and she informed me I was getting a verbal write up because she claimed I never told her that a supervisor was secretly changing peoples pay rates. I then said , that is untrue and I have screenshots that I sent to you on teams and a email that states I informed you of these issues back on June 6th. She then oh okay the write up is dismissed. Am I being to emotional to still be upset about this ?
