Hi All!
I am currently a Senior Software Engineer(Backend) with 4 YOE. My current CTC is 21LPA (All Fixed) with additional Yearly bonus. I got a call from Google (Pune/Bangalore/ Remote) for Software Engineer - Backend. I have the following doubts but any insights are welcome -
1. Does the lower designation offered make any difference?
2. Kinda ambiguous, but what kind of hike or ballpark pay can I expect?
3. Any similar interviews experiences or focus areas I should prepare for?

Not sure of your age but after 40yrs (not even 50), most ppl wish to be in a govt job for its security. You would be undesired in IT consulting/services as you hit mid-40s unless you reach higher echelons by then. At that age, you will be better placed than lot of ppl on this forum if u continue where you are.
All of this is assuming you still love what you do.
Dont go by what others are earning in this forum coz everyone is fighting their own battles and should be in a race w only themselves. Try to be a better version of yourself.
I would suggest you to continue doing wht you are doing, everything in private sector is temporary, Play like Dravid instead of Sehwag, you will end up scoring more runs in your career !!

Do MBA it will be helpful, you can land in project management or solution or advisory roles you can also opt to do MBA from baby IIM if incase you couldn’t get Mother IIM’s
Don't think of MBA if you are not targeting IIM ABC, XLRI, SIBM or FMS. These colleges have higher ROI. Rest other MBA colleges doesn't give a good ROI.
Coding is good only if you are interested in it else after a year or so you will be frustrated with the amount of work in technology.
You are in a good sector. Don't look what others are earning or doing. If you can opt your needs with your salary then it's fine. Be in a job which you like.
After becoming officer, jump to private sector bank. Capitalise on your banking exp for further growth.
Few questions which will help you realise the answer on your own.
1. Do you like the job you are doing ? If yes, try to move to the private sector and continue your career. This will ensure a good salary even with your experience in the public sector.
2. If you don't like the job, but you are there just coz of destiny or because someone told you government job has safety and all, then try to do one of 2 things.
2.a if you want to move towards management, change sectors do an MBA. Even if you do MBA from a top 20 school, it adds value to your cv. Plus you can decide which direction you want to navigate your career in
2.b if you like technical stuff you can do self study, join a few courses in courses like data science/ cloud etc and try to crack few interviews.
All the best :)

Hey, pls dont take all these salary related posts seriously. There are candidates in IT who are earning less as compared to others.
The posts which you might hv read are only 1% folk (or may be less than that) .
I think, YOU are in good sector, just dnt look at the salary of others. I m not aure how much yoe tou hv in your field but I have 10 yoe and I am taking 70K in had though I m in IT.
You have job security, also you will become officer now so growth is always there in your sector with many good facilities and benefits.
I think, most of the IT guys who r earning more, at some point in time will get frustrated and one more, most of the IT people want a govt job due to job security. I personally wanted to work in bank after working 10 yrs in IT industry, but no luck.
So I suggest, continue in your sector, private or public but remain in bank. Just learn new things in your sector, keep yourself busy and dnt get excited by just rading salary related post.
All the very best
