Hello Back, congratulations on 5 years! One approach could be to look through job postings, revise your resume targeting jobs you want to pursue, best advice I received “copy and paste” as long as you have the qualifications listed in job description. Practice for interviews. Update resume targeting more positions. Go to interviews. Learn more them. Tweak your strategies. Update resume. Apply some more. More interviews. Repeat. You’ll be a pro in no time. Happy hunting. Enjoy! You got this!!
Completely agree M1. These are some great points. Also, know that job hunting is a process, last time I was jib hunting I applied to over 70 postings, heard back from less than 10 for an interview (no rejection response), 1 response for interview was 3-4 months after I had initially applied. Got that job. So be prepared for this type of stress and roller-coaster.
I too just completed 5 years at my current place and will be looking for opportunities soon. I think 5 yrs at a place is a good time for transition, esp. impressive if it's a job straight out of college. Most in their 20s switch jos every 1.5 - 2.5 yrs. Helps get pay increase much faster, as well as have rapid career growth.
