I was laid off during Deloitte‘s mass layoff in July of last year. I have worked as an independent contractor since and projects haven’t been consistent at the client I’m working for. I’m looking to get back into a big firm and was seeing if anyone would be able to refer me or help get my foot in the door. I was a business analyst for 1.5 years at Deloitte and have several years of additional experience which I’d be more than happy to share.

That’s not something merely to take offense over… I’d say that’s a legitimate threat. 100% this needs to be reported that is NOT okay for someone to say. Something offensive would be commenting on your appearance or work, saying they’re gonna shoot you in the face?!? That’s a threat of violence and I would take measures to ensure my safety and make sure there are people around you aware of the threat against you too…
Omg. Scary. Contact your local police department and give them a heads up. A lot is available on Google (try looking yourself up). It’s surprising what you might find on yourself.
This kind of creepiness is 💯 NOT “boys being boys”. It’s legit dangerous, and you really should tell the police. Then tell your manager whenever they get back that you already went to the police.
😳😳 I would create a record (yes it is a potential client), let your manager and HR know.

I would go straight to police to report the threat with documentation including this person’s contact info. Then you can figure out who to talk to at your company.

Call the cops asap. Report it. They likely will not do anything besides write the report. Same with HR. The most important thing to do in this situation is create a paper trail, show a pattern so you have a solid case. Also, god forbid he does anything you will have evidence to present to quickly get a restraining order or other means. This may sound extreme but it’s only because as women were conditioned to “not make a big deal out of things, be cool”. That man has serious mental issues and is not a hot bed of mental health. Sending positive light your way ❤️♥️❤️
This is scary and it’s a threat. You need to escalate it.
That is a threat. Period. You need to speak to your spouse about it and report him to the authorities. You don’t know if the guys is just having a fit of bad temper or if he might be someone mentally unstable. In either case, I would contact the authorities. Just because he is a potential client, he can’t be threatening potential suppliers/vendors/service providers (in addition to being dangerous, that’s super unprofessional). So, I wouldn’t take lightly any freaking person reading my private address to me and naming my spouse’s and my dog’s name while threatening me to kill me and put his unborn child’s corpse on mine when he’s done with me. Your and your loved ones safety comes first. Stop trying to justify his behavior. Report him.
Omg tell the police!!
Any update OP?
That sounds scary & dangerous. Forget your job, call the cops & report this guy.
Can you temporarily move somewhere else? You have friend / family nearby that could provide you with a bed ?
That is super creepy.
If you are in the US, I would call the police non emergency line and report a death threat. If you need to report him for anything later they will already have a record of the threat.
Hope you’re okay OP ❤️
Thank you all for the kind responses, amazing support and recommendations. My apologies for the delayed response, as I decided to take a bit of a break from social and public media so I could process why this particular incident really bothered me. I have been told multiple times in my 20+ year career in this field that if you are going to play in this sandbox, you need to adapt to the rules of the sandbox. This one really hit home, especially when he was able to recite my home address to me, as I have a family to support and protect....so it was WAAAY outside my line of comfort.)
We are all alive and well, and I fortunately found out that my new manager is pretty darn amazing. After the incident, I sent a message to him and though he was on vacation at the time, he responded almost immediately that same weekend. Within a few days, he had put a full customer facing employee harassment protection policy into place, including call tracking and recording capability in our system. He also took some time to talk with me personally to listen....not only about the incident but also about my concerns regarding anyone in a customer facing situation that may be dealing with similar calls and helped to develope an action plan for future calls like this one.
I have never posted anything like this online before and was absolutely floored when I logged in again to see all the amazing feedback and support. Thank you all, for everything! Much love and happy holidays to you all!
