Live downtown and take the train to Irvine as needed ?

People sleep on metro link but it’s pretty handy! ETA: “sleep on” as in forget about, although I’m sure people also take nice naps on it too lol

funny

I think you should look at the metro map. Somewhere walkable to a metro station so you can get to union station and then take the train to Irvine.

smart

Well those two areas are very far apart - you’re talking LA vs OC ~60mi of traffic between the two, but yeah easy to make both “accessible” - prob need to narrow it down a bit more

Long Beach

smart

Santa Monica works well for me going to both places with a car. Both places are a reverse commute so traffic isn’t nearly as bad (assuming you’re going from SM to DT or IRV in the mornings)

To put this in terms of New York in case you’re familiar - you’re essentially asking where you should live in Hoboken to have Long Island and Brooklyn easily accessible to you.

Maybe try Fullerton area?

As someone mentioned Long Beach. Or maybe the South Bay. I love the south bay.

I’ve been with my organization a little over a year and we’ve had major transitions and turnover that took me from starting as a recruiter coordinator to a hr generalist, and now an interim hr manager. I have a masters degree in industrial organizational psychology and while I am new to HR have professional work experience in other fields-military, teacher, training specialist. I love what I do. Should I apply for the hr manager position with only a year of hr work history? Do I have a chance?

Hi, do you know of any opening as a production manager making at least 120K? The environment where I'm currently working is getting more toxic than ever and they are expecting me to fill all the openings with the minimum wage. I've been in the same company for the last 7 years, but with all the pandemic still going on, nobody seems to understand that when you are short staffed is impossible to get the same results as when you are fully staffed. Any help or insights will be greatly appreciated.

Hi! I’m moving to LA from Chicago, base 90k - no debt. I live in a 1BD rn and have been browsing the market in LA to get an idea of rent. I’m mainly looking west of DTLA (ktown, la brea, pico rob, etc)it’s seeming like a 1BD may be out of reach. I’m not looking to pay more than $1800/mo. Any suggestions on neighborhoods I should consider? I’d like to be near grocery, restaurants, and would need parking. I enjoy being outdoors and would look to go on hikes/runs in my free time if that helps. TIA!

So for those that lived in NY and moved to LA, what are your thoughts? What do you like, don't like, what do you miss? Are the people really that different?

I love how connected & convenient NY is. It always feels lively (bar covid) & it's easy to find something to do but I always wanted to give LA a shot, even if it's for a year. Nice weather year round, film industry, the beach, more space all seem like pros. Doesn't really feel like a city though. I imagine the lifestyle change is a big one.
