So I used to work for the same company as you are working in right now. The way to go about it is start appearing for interviews stating that you have 1 to 1.5 month notice period. Once you have a couple of offers bargain for a higher salary using the other offer letters. Once you have the best deal go back to office with a medical reason because of which you would not be able to continue. Specifically request to be released to the bench for your medical condition stating you don't know how long it will take. Once in bench appear for a couple of interviews and then put your papers. If the bench people say that you need to serve notice period tell them that you tried a couple of interviews internally but they are not relevant (also mentioning your medical condition). Try taking a hike of at least 30 percent in your new role. All the best!
Atleast 30%
I was also stuck in a dead end job with a Non supporting manager who was only glad to screw my career aspirations and time at the company. Then I came to know that he is planning to give me lowest rating, inspite of always being there for the team, supporting whenever required in the project, and not at all compromising on the deliverables. Within 4 days of knowing this, I made up my mind, gatherered the courage to drop my resignation and begin the countdown of my notice period (90 days non negotiable).
Then I started to brush up my skills and buckle up for applying for jobs and preparing for the interviews. And I am thankful to God and Universe for the Job offer which I received (100% Hike) and it fits in all my criteria (Not a service based IT Company, Great work Life Balance, Learning and Growth) for a long career with the new company. Also I got to know my team and am glad to see how they value me and are excited to start working with me.
So after this all is happening, I can only say that Fortune favors the brave…
So take the leap and start your journey towards your dreams. And always remember no single person can be the decision maker of your life and screw it. If you feel so, it's time to take back the steering of your life in your own hands.
Unless you do so, You don't know what great things the world has to offer you
I'm on the same path...
If you are confident on your skills and demand in the market. Put your papers, you can take them back anyway during final days of your notice period.
Simple! Ask the recruiter back - what's the notice period in your organisation?
To the best of my knowledge Most of the organisations (except D-USI) has 90 days notice period. Then you can ask politely if your organisation itself has 90 days NP,how can you be biased against 90 days NP in TCS?
What I did was, I started attending interviews saying 60 days np. And then once I got the offer I got more offers during notice period.
Target companies like infosys first or atleast tell each interviewer that you have 90 days of notice period but u wil ltry to negotiate it. They will consider 90 days. Once u have any offer put resignation and parallely start for something better . Last 30 days will be most important. You can do it , dont worry . Just start giving as much as interviews as u can.
All companies usually have a buyout option.
If you get a really good job offer, you can considering buying out the rest of your notice period.
I've also seen cases when another company really wants an employee who is under a notice period obligation, then the new company buys out the notice period on the employee's behalf.
The problem is with managers, they won't let us go smoothly with a buy out
Possibility of getting early release but depends on approval from higher management....you can say this and atleast get the interview call. Later you can try for early release. If things are in your favour you may get early release, if not you can always say to the HR of new company that it was informed earlier before i interview that release is dependent on approval
