Hello Fishes,

I'm a 2+ yoe emp in TCS...my ctc was at 4.26 lpa...
So I applied for jobs...got offers from KPMG and LTI...but I wasn't able to get >7lpa...After 2 mnth of NP, luckily cleared DCA within TCS and my ctc upgraded to 7.95lpa...I felt satisfied and so withdrew my papers...Now I am seeing my friends getting 10+lpa for same exp with same IQ...I didn't want to involve in such a rat race but still getting depressed over this...any tips to retain back my peace of mind?
Thank u🥺🙏

You are unhappy because your friends got 10+ .When you will earn 15 , they will earn 20 and when you will earn 20 they will 25 an so on. Peace is in your mind.
Ideally, one should switch a company if he/she is having financial crunch, low learning level, bad manager or work or some personal issue to cope with work. But, these days people switch just because there friends/relatives earn more. DONT RUIN YOUR LIFE WITH COMPARISON. You will always be unsatisfied and unhappy. IF YOU FEEL YOU ARE HAPPY WITH 7lpa then just enjoy with that.Try to be WEALTHY NOT RICH

Were you even sad till you had compared your salary wiith your friends? There is no limit to it. You are almost 13 years younger to me, so I am advising you that be happy for yourself. There is no limit to comparisons. It can forever keep you sad and depressed.

There will be always someone who will earn more than you at your experience and technology, so don't compare with others. Set your own goal and Parsue that.

likeuplifting

Exactly, if you are happy with your earnings and learnings then simply enjoy. We dont need to sprint, it's marathon that we need to target for.

Eventhough they earn 3 lakhs more than you, that money will end up in New house, car, iPhone, camera, another laptop, internet, photoshoot etc...so its not about earning, but saving...And always slowly progress your career and earnings.

Think about it in this way. You were able to clear the internal exam and get this hike, so you have the potential to really grow in your career. Be proud of that and now concentrate on building yourself as a better professional. Think about how good of a professional you are now and what relevant skills you have. Start learning and upskilling yourself with the most in demand tech skills plus soft skills. In another some months time you would've elevated yourself to the level of a much more skilled engineer and that would then easily let you earn much more than what you presently do. Again, only concentrate on how you are making yourself a better engineer. Do not compare with others as they are living a different life doing different things probably. Just make sure that you are convinced that you are putting in enough efforts into making yourself an exceptional professional. If you are, then everything will easily follow.

Hey
Don't dishearten yourself
Everybody has a friend (or friends) who earns more than them
Even better, somebody who already moved to US or UK
Even better, who's there by their company and not their own expense
Even better, who's cracked FAANGM or similar size company
This is never gonna end
Sharpen your skillset
TCS is neither the first or the last company, if you're capable at any point of time, can leave TCS find better organization
But beware, to be skilled in something takes time
So don't rush it
Take this as inspiration
I once saw a guy over LinkedIn who worked in TCS for 3 years as System Engineer, then ML Engineer, then cracked a job in Berlin, Germany
Who's stopping you, nobody
Get a skillset and be good at it
The world is a stage then
No depression, only progression my friend
For more information, don't follow me anywhere 😁

Bro this is good news 😇 work for 3 more months and moreover learn the maximum you can and then look to switch to some product company. Your next jump should be 15LPA.

Imagine you had switched at 6.5lpa and you can't switch for 1 more year. Now, you are getting 8lpa, and also the freedom to switch in the next 5 months 😉

Anyway, try to get good work, money comes and goes. You should enjoy what youre doing, and if you do good you will get paid good

Don't stay here try to switch because 7.98lPA is not promised to give always. It is based on your performance and band you get. If you get C or D band then your package will decrease to 4.5LPA and your grade will also reduce. because they are giving it as an incentive not a part of salary. Think about it and make decision.

Even if ur friend earns more than u, they will get taxed accordingly.

Don't compare ur salary or life with ur friends, Any thing can turn around anytime.
Wait for ur opportunity and think on a long term perspective.

It's not about saving either, it's about investing how do you make your money work for you.

smart

That is completely fine, its always not about the money you were missing.
Who knows a single promotion can get your pay above your friend .

Salary ups and downs will always be there, you can be a head of your friend in a year or two or a new friend can come in and say he gets 20 for the same exp. So just be happy if your needs are met comfortably and are able to invest money. Spending ample time with family. Good manager who respects &recognizes your work.

It's good to never ask for someone's salary as it is something personal and should be kept to themselves. In my experience I have seen people working with more, better and precise knowledge below 15k- 20k in-hand. Best part they are happy. If you want something increase your knowledge and always pitch them.

Those who are earning 10L will be looking at people earning 15L and will be worried. When the time comes you will get what you deserve. Don't worry about your package if it is serving your needs.

It is fine. It happens. I know my co workers and juniors who have better CTC, better LPA, better positions even though their work might be meh.

The fundamental questions for your satisfaction is simple.

Are you happy with the work you do? The quality your produce as a proletariat?

Is your work life and family life compartmentalized, and peaceful?

If you have a positive response to this. You will grow.

Money and Power are liquids. Depending on the circumstances, they will solidify or evaporate without a trace.

I've gone through this as well. We are not cast in the same mould as everyone in the organisation, even if they want us to believe it.

Slowly, but surely, there is a path which will bring you the fruit of your labour.

It's okay to express the frustration and depression on this. It's okay. Let it out. Vent. But never let it slow you down.

I hope you might get a better CTC in future. Just trust yourself and keep working on personal skill application.

Sir, just one piece of advice based on my experience of 12 years though in a different domain. Never compare and stress out. Be happy and look for career rather than job. You are at one of the best companies in the world. Look to develop there. Remember, be happy with what you have and Never ever compare with others.
