Thoughts on Big 4-> PE ops/portfolio role? 2 years out of undergrad, interviewing for a 2 year analyst role, would then do MBA afterwards. Interest post-MBA would be turnaround and restructuring Not a "name brand" firm.

When do partners decide when an associate is good enough to make partner? I’m a senior and it is extremely clear to me when an associate has it or doesn’t, and moreover it doesn’t take eight years to figure it out; it takes just one or two matters for me to know if they’re adding value or are ultimately just a commodity. It’s hard for me to avoid the conclusion that associates are largely being strung along by partners who are going to can them at some point, long after that decision is made.
