Asking for opinions. Partner comp. at my firm is 40% of WAC and 15-20% of originations, plus a distribution if you have equity. Partners love it. Based on experience, associates worry it creates an incentive for partners to hoard work (till they’re overloaded), and, a disincentive to pass work down and train associates how to do it. Worth noting, our rates are compressed — mid levels bill around $600 while mid-career partners bill in the low $700s (we’re in Texas, middle market). Thoughts?
