Hello Folks, does getting a CTC of 13 LPA for a 9 years experienced in IT industry is highly underpaid?

I raised a similar question here a few of months back. Being at mid senior level my YOE and my LPA were the same. Frankly many replies i received for my post worried me. It was disappointing and highly demotivating. So here is what I learnt in the past few months. Hope this helps

1) It totally depends on your skill, proficiency, your package when you started and also the year you joined the industry (yes, 9 yrs back the starting package wasn't that good and you would have seen folks who passed out a few years later getting a much higher starting package in the very same organisation, because of the boom in the industry)

2) Skillset is VERY important. I was a QA engineer, and couldn't find many jobs with a good package. So I upskilled and started looking for different roles which actually helped in my case. Do learn something new if you think your current skill is not helping you land elsewhere

3) If you stuck to 1 or 2 orgs throughout, then this package is normal(many do have similar packages or less for same yoe). Mine was lesser . Not everyone gets 30L and 40L like we see in these posts :) But you can definitely get an instant boost if you start looking outside

4) The most important thing is, if you think you are underappreciated/underpaid in your job, start searching soon. The market is good. Give as many interviews as possible. Make a question bank of interview questions and prepare before the next one and so on.

I started seeking in Dec and got my first offer in Jan which made my package 2.5x my YOE. And I consider myself really bad at giving interviews. But it is employees' market now and if you decide to switch jobs, now is the time! :)

All the best!

Nope...not me didnt find good working project hence switched but not impulsively !

I got an offer of 13 lacs when I was just 2.5 year exp . And that too it wasn't a product company. I hope you understand how highly underpaid the above is.

What's a good number for a 9 YOE in a project lead role for infrastructure support?

Yikes, have you been at the same company for 9 years?

No, I've changed organizations but had to switch domains and eventually I'm a lead and plan to move to the management side.

25+ would be ideal if you are working in any demanding technology.

agree, the current ctc is way too low for that kind of experience!

Whats your skillset and profile, depends on that as well since, not every profile/role gets paid good as you see with numbers here.
Not 13 but atleast 18 would have been a good number.

Buddy I guess with some process certifications added to your profile, you can stretch it till 20-22 with switch and counter offers

There is no boolean answer to this. It depends on multiple factors like 1.start pkg, 2.current company, 3.current pkg, 4.new company’s requirement. For example, people from reputed institutes join top product based companies at least with 12L whereas we join service based companies through off campus hiring with 5 or 6 L. But your current offer looks very low to switch a company.

probably 25

Yes, it's low. The lowest I would want to see would be at least 18 after that many years.

9*3.5 is average.

Hey recruiters!

Trying to find some guidance on giving the best option on getting that initial HR call in tech. During my career wise, I’ve been fortunate enough that recruiters reach out to me about job opportunity within the financial sector and airline industry but not tech.

My goal is to move to the tech/software industry and I’m not exactly sure where to start. If anyone willing to give some advice please DM or reply! Thanks!

Hi Fishes ,
I got an opportunity from Axtria as a Senior Associate/ Lead - BIM. BIM is one of the Axtria's business vertical.

I've cleared all rounds of interviews including final HR round and salary discussion and at last HR told me that he will get back to me with next steps. It's been over a week, I did not get any response. I have called HR and he said he is checking with internal team and getback to me.

Anyone from Axtria or past employees have any idea for this kind of situation?

Thanks
