Hello friends! Hope y'all have an amazing weekend. Recommendation needed:

I'm moving to London in a month time and looking to rent a room in a shared apartment or house. Looking at areas that are closed to supermarkets and preferably on the Central, Piccadilly or Northern lines in zone 1 / 2.

Modern apartments / townhouse would be great but have seen really nice old houses, any recommendations on areas to look at or if you know anyone looking for a roommate, pls lemme know :p

Also have a look at openrent.com

In terms of areas on the Northern line (area I know most) have a look at Clapham, Balham, tooting, they are zones 2/3 but good for young professionals sharing. Keep following the Northern line up and it starts getting expensive but depending on budget I think Borough is nice

I'd steer clear of most old houses unless they've been renovated. When you go check them out ask about EPC rating and look at the windows and walls. Are they way too cold? Can you feel a breeze? I lived in one of those Victorian houses and it was dreadful in winter.

For flatshares Spareroom is best

I’ll go first- I’ll tell myself to not overshare, especially to the manager. People will generally make an image of you and judge you on basis of that even if you have changed a lot.

Hi everyone! I’ve been a Retirement Representative for two years, with a HS Diploma. I am having a hard time being able to grow in the company, along with other gripes I’d rather not go into. Not giving first number is a frequently mentioned tip but it’s not always good advice. I know several people who followed this rule and simply got offered lowballs with slight to no room for negotiation.

If you have some data on possible ranges, I think it’s better to give the number you want first. I’ve had recruiters say they can’t meet that and we don’t proceed, saving us both time. And if they can, then it’s less likely to be lowball.

Do you adhere to not giving a number first?

Hi, we're searching for a job in HR for my wife. She's an MBA from India and has 10 years of work experiences across various HR roles in FMCG and Tech. Her last role was a HR BP and India site lead for a US based semiconductor major.
Is CIPD necessary to get a comparable role in the UK? While we undersrand it's a new market, would she necessarily need to start from a basic role again? It's difficult to balance studies, work and manage a 2 y.o. Any pointers or job openings would be appreciated.
