Hello, has anyone here ever done plant medicine, also known as ayahuasca? What was your experience like? Would you do it again? Would you recommend it? How has it improved or affected your life?

My bf did. He said it was a very positive experience. He vision of a panther. He threw up for an 1.5hr in the beginning. He says everyone does it. He says don't go to South America and pay hundreds to do it. It's a rip off and someone died doing so. He says he's glad he did it

From my experience, 100% yes. During the trip, you take in a lot more sensory information. You tend to see the world in new ways, and make associations way more quickly. You’ve never seen the world in such beauty. The comedown is energizing. The “afterglow” is incredible. For a few weeks, the sun shines a little brighter. The sky is a little bluer. Birds chirp a little more melodically. Easier to converse. In some respects, it’s like periodically hitting the reset button. Usually when I’ve done it, my desire to drink just disappears. Take better care of myself. Just look at the list of notable LSD users. Hell, Francis Crick first penned early sketches for The DNA double helix while on it. I try to do it about 1x/year. As to location, I vary it up when I can. Secluded beach and high rise airnbnb are fun. Personal favorite was when I was in London. Walked down the Birdcage, all the way throughout Hyde Park to the other side. Stunningly beautiful.

I did not personally do it, but had a friend do it while in Costa Rica. He had prepared for it for about a month (while chilling in Pura Vida) and found a reputable shaman who led his journey. From what he told me, it was a really healing experience. He said he "had a memory of his dad"... Who he had "never met". But then called his mom and she confirmed the memory. Wild stuff.

Side note: Chelsea Handler does it with her friends on Chelsea Does and it's really interesting (and funny). The other day I heard her on a podcast say her shaman shit his pants and didn't move for like hours and that she can't imagine where he went on his trip to be able to do that 😂😂😂

Moving: My SO and I love Chicago but hate the winter, lack of access to beautiful outdoor scenery, and the taxes. No kids yet and don't want to have "what if" regrets later. What's a good city to move to? Things we love about Chicago: amazing food, music scene, comedy, diversity, plenty of interesting things to do, ok COL compared to other big cities. We're considering Austin, Denver, Portland but having a hard time narrowing down / also open to other places. Thoughts?

This might be different by firm. Partners, is this a good or bad year to make partner? Comp will likely be lower for P’s next year than, say, two years ago. But will buy-in be lower as well? Is this a good “buy low” year for making partner?

I was recently put on a 30day plan, busted my ass on it and was let go during covid. I’m beyond hurt and I feel very targeted and it never felt fair. What else could I do? I’m embarrassed and I recently came across one of the women who never liked me on social media and all the feels felt fresh again.

I find myself questioning basic politeness I’ve learned since a child. Wondering what everyone else thinks. I work with an associate. She’s great. When she does good work or something I’ve asked her to do, I, of course, say “thank you!” I don’t really expect a response. She always replies “you’re welcome!” Or some variation. And for some reason, that’s awkward. Is it just me? I know in normal manners, that is the right response. Why does it sit funny?
