I’ve noticed companies are starting to ask if you wish to identify if you’re LGBTQ+ when applying for jobs. When I’ve gone along with this I notice recruiters focus more on diversity and employee groups, and it’s making me feel like I’m being interviewed as a potential diversity hire, especially when I’ve received interviews from companies that are prone to boy’s club culture. I’m not really sure how I feel about this. Anyone else experience it or have thoughts?

My boss the general manager is setting me up at work. She is saying all this stuff about me that is not true at all. But when I come into her shift or come into my shift after hers nothing is done for me. A lot of the prep is not done. And she complains about me not doing the prep. Stuff Is still dirty. One day she left the grill on. Etc. There was another manager there training to run another store and she said I basically do a lot of the work while she doesn't do much. So she stood up for me.

We all had the same responsibilities, I consider I even had a heavier workload (talking in past tense since I very recently made an internal move).

What would you recommend doing?

I recently posted here about finding how underpaid Im compared to my peers and subordinates.I need help. I’m so angry and bitter (describes me the best right now) that Im unable to work with the same enthusiasm as before, not able to be ‘nice’ and help everyone that asks, in fact when the peer of mine (earns $20k more and does less than half the work) asks me questions, i just get so impatient. How do I fix this. I just want to do the bare minimum, but that’s just not me. Help pls 😰

I'm still at the beginning of my career (4 years of exp.) and currently looking at switching jobs or even career. That is mainly because I have quite intense public speaking anxiety which makes me feel like I will always reach that point where another step up will mean publicly speaking.

I'm generally a people's person and have tried some workshops to help my anxiety, but during the pandemic I could not practice.

Do you have career advice or can tell me which roles I could consider?

I have interviewed for three different positions within DOJ in the national security sector and I always seem to get passed up. I have prepped extensively and have been my true self. I have also expressed my passion for the work. I used to work at DOJ in another office as an attorney too. I’m not sure if these offices just don’t like me or what I say, but im wondering if anyone has experienced this and how did you improve or get hired in the field?
