This is a great idea! Do you have contacts within the company that you could ask if they would be interested in participating in the committee prior to pitching it to the higher ups? I only ask because it is a great idea and they will go for it, but you don't want to be the only committee member who ends up planning everything.
One idea to present would be to come up with a loose calendar for the next couple of months with some events and a possible budget for them. It can get expensive but with good planning, you can do events for a decent price.
Some ideas would be an ugly sweater contest in December, a wellness challenge in January - can group by departments for step challenge or individuals, and so on. At my last company we put out a survey to employees to see what they were most interested in and ended up doing karaoke (an employee had a machine and brought it), RC car racing and a couple of volunteer events where we packed food boxes on site, did a school supply drive where we competed by floor and some other contests.
This is a great initiative! I'd suggest doing a little research and putting together some statistics that demonstrate the value of such a committee in terms of employee engagement, morale, and ultimately retention. That way you'll have something concrete to back up your request.
Provide a business case with a white paper lending evidence that a great company culture or engagement committee helps with retention and productivity!
This is great! In my company I am the one that suggest everything and then they let me run with it. The one downside is that you really have to have the peoples buy-in otherwise you end up doing everything, and it is really hard to motivate people to do more work when they already have a full time job. It is great! And if you have a team that is committed you will go far!
Good luck!

Great initiative 👏🏼wellness challenges are fun, share self-care tips, promote EAP, mental wellness workshops, DEI inclusive language, training, pronouns information… create an internal library with resources accessible to all employees and newsletters with committee updates and such. That’s what I did at my last company build a framework on DEI and mental

What a great idea, OP! I like the fact that you took the initiative. With enough documentation to convince the higher ups, I think you'll get an approval!
