I’ve been working for this company for 4 years. The raises I got were a few cents on the dollar per year. Over the years I have coworkers put their letter of resignation, and they get offered huge advances to stay. I was looking to do the same but very nervous. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Spouse was stuck outside US since H4 stamping stopped by EO. They came here on B2 and have been here some months now. Would you recommend apply for H4 and change status while they are here? Downside is it takes 10+ months and spouse can't leave the country in that time.
Alternative is wait till Jan and see if EO expires and H4 can be stamped back home in a matter if a week.

I start my new job, tomorrow, as the “Client Relationship Leader” of a very large design fabrication company. I will have to abandon my Mac/Adobe creative suite upbringing and learn the PC platform for Corel (🤮), sketchup and some other 3D software. Normally and historically, this would be a deal breaker- as these programs run fine on a Mac- has anyone had to switch and how what we’re the biggest hurdles? I get on a PC and get so frustrated not being able to do what I want to do.

Please explain to me why project codenames are used in the bodies of emails and the names of attachments when it’s painfully obvious from the contents of the attachments and the domains of some people on those emails which company is doing what deal.

We’re not being sneaky here.

I’ve learned my boss is moving on to new opportunities, and there isn’t any plan to refill their role, which will leave me as an HR team of one. I don’t have the experience to fully take on all the work, but plan to give it my all.

Our district is so lax on the students this year. With tech issues and distance learning days, we’ve gone from accommodating to enabling real quick. No penalties for late work, taking excuses for attendance, lower academic and behavioral standards... At what point is it too late to switch to a career in programming? I studied supply chain management in college, but more and more I find myself wishing I had done computer science. I have been working as a business analyst for almost a year now and am curious if that is a realistic career jump. I have no programming experience, but it just seems way more glamorous than supply chain consulting. Curious what your guys thoughts are/if anyone has made a similar jump.

Hey tech folks. I'm mentoring a software engineer graduate and wanted your opinion. I had him write out his 5 year goals to me and it's about finding his niche and specializing in 5 years. Would you say that's too early to think about specializing? My thoughts are to say it's OK if you find your passion and want to specialize, but it's also OK to generalize and pick up more skills and experience in different aspects of tech.

I applied for few SA roles at AWS after getting the SAA certificate and some badges like the “WAF” and “Advanced Migration”. I also optimized my resume recently trying to match what AWS would look for, but I did not get any 1st call or screening interview!
