Hello I moved from the UK to NYC. Your pay will be halved (even after taking into account the currency conversion). France will require language skills, same with Germany. There are quite a few in NL whose English skills are quite bad — I went there on training facilitated by them it. Try Switzerland?

It’ll be a 50% opposite of a hike.

Which country?
How much would that impact my standard of living?

Salary will be way less but you’ll have a functioning health care system that won’t bankrupt you and if you decide to settle you’ll be taken care of

Germany is apparently a terrible consulting sweatshop, at least compared to UK and especially France with decent WLB.

London has a large and diverse consulting industry. New immigration rules on Jan will make international transfers easier for Americans. Contact your partner and get them to link you with their UK equivalent and go from there. Good luck.

EY 2 - so why is it expensive in that case?

Yes you’ll lose A LOT. The only somehow competitive country would be Switzerland. Then Germany, Netherlands, France (among the ones you mentioned; Luxembourg is obviously high)

lol “target Swiss”. That’s like saying “target American”. Are you ordering cheese in bulk?

I interviewed with General Mills recently.

HR asked my expectations I said 8.5LPA(2.4times hike- reasons were relocation to mumbai, and the current avg for DA with 3yoe).

In the salary negotiation round, the guy said their company doesn't negotiate. He asked for my expectations and if that is negotiable from my end. They didn't call back and when I called HR said we cannot pay you this much hike. (I didn't share another offer of 6.5LPA.)

What should I have done differently, thoughts?
