It's a much slower pace that focuses on doing things right. You'll also probably be working with an established design system and will need to make smaller incremental changes rather than "blowing up" the design. Depending on the company, you may also be covering more engineering teams than your comfortable with.
Slower paced for sure and clients are now Product managers. The one thing I’ve always loved about in-house work is growing with the product. When I did Agency work it was always a huge flurry of work and done. Next client. In-house you work with the same thing and grow it over years and to me that is very satisfying.
In-house can also be drastically different in how it’s lead. Some places are Product lead and others are Engineering lead. So your mileage may vary on your overall impact on the product.
