Hello, I joined in September 2021 as consultant. Was on bench till mid October. Now my utilization is only 58%. I am a little confused with these numbers. Do I need to check with someone on this or is this ok for a recent hire?

What if we dont achieve our target in the next year as well?

Also, keep checking with peers on utilisation. Mostly your utilisation should be within peers and above them but not less.

I am also in same situation, i have joined in July, 2021 as a Advisory Analyst. As of now my utilisation is only 45%. One of the response mentioned that need not to worry as it is first year. I agree to that point, but my question is based on the utilisation only we will receive hikes and bonus right?

Check your goal utilization and then compare

How to check goal. Whats for analyst?

Since this is your first year, don’t worry about it at all!

@Deloitte 1 - I have my Utilization in single digits. My coach said that I will be marked 'Commensurate' for other factors but metric like Utilization might be 'Below Average' and to expect a default rating overall(no more no less). Does that mean I get no hike or variable for the year?

Hey fish, life science PhD with post doc exp here. I've been an Associate consultant for almost a year now. Contemplating leaving for a business dev manager/innovation manager for a biotech institute near me. Consulting has been both cool and overwhelming at times. I really miss science but don't want to be on the bench. Has anyone jumped back to the science heavy side after consulting?

I’ve built a strong pipeline of work with my current client, establish great rapport, and likely will continue to see more work being sold. But, I’m just over my current project and been on it far too long (running on 1.5 years). I think it’s time for another M to take over the team and I join a new project. I’m at the point where I’ve done all I can do. I feel as though I’m part of the client now, and that’s not why joined consulting. Would it look bad to ask and roll off?

Hi fishes, I recently got an offer from Epam anywhere (Lead Software Engineer A4) - 30LPA and Uplers - 32LPA (offer being rolled out) So far i really like EPAM anywhere as an employer but overall CTC is not satisfactory.. I am aware of their 50k bench policy but i think i can ask for a fixed CTC as per the new salary structure (correct me if i am wrong here) Do you guys think i can counter EPAM anywhere with the higher offer. What's the salary range for Lead Software Engineer A4?@ TIA

What is the bench period in IBM? I joined on jan 2022, it's been 6weeks still clocking the bench code. I have cleared one project interview after one week suddenly they released me from the project. Don't know why After that I am not even getting single project call. What shall I do now? Should I wait here or search job from other companies? Worried :(

What does bench life look like for you? For me a typical day looks like this 9 am- sign in and check emails 930-11 : look for a new job 11-2 lunch and nap 2-3 : sometimes meetings, mostly begging people for billable work 3-4:30 - proposal work if I have it or more job hunting 5-9pm family time and dinner 10-3am - netflix, videogames, cry myself to sleep
