Hey everyone! I have a new employee who’s been absent since Nov 2nd (worked 2 days). They reached out to inform me of a family emergency but never communicated a return date. They also responded to their managers email saying they’re not in a place to take on this role now. But they also said that a family meme et will be needing assistance for 4-6 mo and they don’t want to hold back the business so they’re okay with whatever we decide. It’s been 10 days. Would you consider this job abandonment?

Experienced A2 (2.5 years) in NYM Tax AWM. Was hoping to get promoted July, but it looks like I will be waiting another 6 months before getting promoted to senior (😞). Looking for what exit opportunities I might have. If I leave PwC then I would move to a Non-PA role. I started a job with a tutoring company. I had to go in for training at 2pm one day. They never told me how long I would work until I got there. Turns out I had to work until 7:30. 5 and a half hours of training. My previous experience with the same company (diff franchise) only required 1 hour of training. Anyways at the end of my shift, they said I don’t get paid for that day. They didn’t guarantee pay the next day, either. I left and said it was illegal. Was I right?

I can tell you right now, at my agency we have folks in their 40s and 50s and they’ve been around forever.
