New fish looking for career guidance. I'm a corporate recruiter with 3 years of experience. Finishing my degree in HRM 5/2022. I'm thinking of getting my SHRM -CP shortly after graduation. I'm not sure of where to go after that, but I doubt I will stick with recruiting or my current firm. Has anyone here started off in recruiting and branched out to other HR functions? Do you like your new role? Do you wish you stuck with recruiting?
Unpopular opinion: consulting is not any more challenging nor does it generate more experience than working in a demanding/high-profile role at a large company or startup. As someone who’s been in all three, I don’t see how people can argue consulting YOE > operating YOE. In fact, I could easily argue the opposite. What do y’all think (I’m expecting serious hate lol)
Anyone have thoughts on how the corona virus will also affect how (or if) agencies will be hiring?
Pros and cons of rolling over 401k from old employer to an IRA vs new employers plan? Other than the usual limitations in options etc.? Considering moving it to something like schwab IRA
Feeling like my firm has a very outdated parental leave policy (and none of the women partners have children)! What is the parental leave policy at your firm? Please include: (1) size of firm; (2) location of firm (city, state); (3) how many paid weeks off from firm (not state/fed benefits); (4) other policies such as ramp up/down time, etc.
Currently in Kinaxis, precession services base 110k bonus : 12%. Got an offer from slalom base 130k and 7%. I wanted to shoot out for senior consultant but they still offer me consultant role. Is the switch worth it. I am not particularly looking for a job change
Walking out in a few days. 2 quick points that make me take up non consulting role. First - Big project team and I am a late entrant to the team so chances of promo to M next year doesn’t seem possible. Second - 20% hike without moving out of town. Go ?
Working within risk and compliance advisory at a midsize and received an offer from another midsize for 120k base and 15% bonus with 2 YOE. Is this what people at b4 seeing? Considering passing and going to b4 for the name and exit opportunities. Would appreciate any advice!

Coming from McKinsey, Google health insurance seems a little worse. What other benefits exist that you all actually enjoy the most? I hear people talk a lot about Google benefits, but maybe the onboarding doesn’t do as good a job of showing that ? Side note-yet to join but excited!
I got reached out to about a VC role, but I had never considered VC before. I do Product Management Consulting, but I do have both an undergrad business education and product design experience. What books / articles / sources do you reccommend if I want to learn more about VC? If you have worked in VC, what thoughts or advice would you want to share? Thanks for any info or advice you can share!

I'm a senior in college. Last recruiting season, I made it to final rounds at Bain and BCG, got dinged at both. Is getting a full time role easier? It's giving me a bit of anxiety. Thanks all.

Homeowners question. We have an old AC unit that will need to be replaced in the near future. It uses the old Freon that’s been discontinued. Do people usually pay outright for a new AC unit or is there like some kind of insurance we can add on if ours goes out?
Did anybody go through the interview process with Deloitte for an SM role? Do you know what exactly they look for other than business development? I'm currently a director with PwC.
Why isn’t there a public accountants union? At least even at the staff level. These layoffs were handled like a group of unchecked overlords are expected to.
Anyone have insights for interview process for McKinsey cyber specialist role. Would really appreciate details on type of cases, difficulty of cases, things to expect in technical round. TIA!

Been at Pwc for 8 years, never interviewed elsewhere before recently. How does process generally work once you get offer elsewhere? Is proper protocol to notify partners once offer is in hand?
Thinking of going to Alaska in July for a week. 1. Is it worth going if on a tight budget? It seems that many of the excursions there are $500+. I'm definitely not looking to spend that much, more in the $50-75 range for an excursion. 2. My wife will be 6 months pregnant. Is there a lot to do considering that (obviously we won't be able to do long hikes etc).
If someone does not have access to LinkedIn Learning, do you have any free recommendations on how they could develop their leadership skills?
Tell us how long you've been a teacher without saying how long you've been a teacher. Ex: Overhead projectors were like gold 😂.
Pray tell are there Wunderman Thompson folks here? Applying for a job & looking to see who I should directly reach out to.
What’s the first vacation you want to take when this quarantine is all over. Either gonna be skiing in Jackson Hole or a trip to France and the UK depending on the season. ✈️🤞🙏
Checked in at a Sheraton on my bday tonight, but no HBD from the front desk. How many points?
Do MBB also consult companies like Google, Apple, goldman Sachs, etc on strategy topics? I seem to never have heared...😐
I’m not sure if this allowed but I have a couple of interviews coming up and I’m having a hard time figuring out how much to ask for Experience 3 years of paid social experience, Mostly B2B, enterprise and up clients. Been promoted pretty consistently. In SF. I’ve been told 90-95 is within range from agency recruiters, but this job is in house for a big tech firm ( and would be something I’m super stoked on) am I crazy for asking 110? Or is that to big a jump? Thank you fellow wizards
