Hello, if I already applied to a job posting, can I still get someone to put in a reference for me? Or should I have gotten the reference first? Lastly, would withdrawing my application and then getting someone to refer me work, or would it look odd to the Big 4 firm’s HR/recruiting team?

Generally no

Agree with RSM 1, generally no simply because if you already applied, you aren’t being referred by someone, right? This gets the firm out of paying referral fees 🤷🏼‍♂️

like

No, someone can still refer you they may have to email someone in HR to get your resume linked to them and added as referral.

Can anyone briefly explain why so many CPAs go into executive search/headhunter roles? I feel like that has to be such a saturated market. And there are a billion staffing firms. I left a boutique consulting company because I felt under utilized. Joined a larger supposedly hip consultancy with local market model with great expectations and am finding myself let down by the experience - the client, work, teamwork and collaboration, technical content is not per what was promised and feels like I am back to my b4 days. I was a fool to fall for the kumbaya in consulting crap - I am best developing products with great teams. Industry looks down on me. What are my options?
