You can certainly ask but be prepared if they say no. If it is truly your dream job, then take it. Lean on family and friends to help out. When mine was little, we had a Mom's group that if one of us was at our breaking point, someone swooped in and took over for a few hours. We kept that going for nearly 10 years. You'll be surprised how many Nurses are in the same boat.
Some background info is that the position is about 10 min away, they are allowing me to work in my desired specialty and it’s day shift. They explained to me that the on boarding process only takes about a week which is why I would like to ask if I could possibly start on July 1st or July 15th. The interview is this upcoming week. I don’t want to miss out on this opportunity but I also don’t want to risk my license. I don’t function well on no sleep.
I would interview and just also explain what your circumstances are at home. If it’s a good company they will be willing and understanding!
As a brand new graduate. I don’t recommend working for the agency. Working with a agency requires experience. If it’s not H.H. I wouldn’t put my license in jeopardy.Speaking from 30yrs of experience.
A month might be asking for too much. How quickly do they want you to start? I don't mean this to sound negative but the baby might not get on a good schedule in that time span anyways
The job market is rough out here. You are lucky that you were able to find something so quickly. Can your family or friends help with the baby?
You can. But to be honest, a month is already too long. Give it a shot and hope that they will consider your current situation. Best of luck, OP!
I hire people all the time. It’s not very common but I have accommodated a 30 day wait to start previously. I would go ahead and when they ask how soon you could start tell them you would like 30 days most places should not have an issue normally it’s at least two weeks anyways for roper notice to someone’s current employer. Besides lots of jobs have 30-60-90 day notification periods depending how senior your role. For my job it’s a 30 day notice I must give and I am a supervisor.
