Hi all, recently a recruiter from Amazon reached out for an SDE 2(2+ years of exp. required) role and I'm a recent CS grad. I gave the OA (which was extremely difficult w/ 99% cut-off) and other tasks related to the OA. A few hours back, I got a call from the recruiter that I had cleared the assessment and tasks and said that they are looking for 2+ years of exp. I said I'm open to the SDE1 role and said she'll ask her colleagues. Idk what to expect now 😥 Amazon Amazon India

Have you had this conversation open and frankly with your leaders? If someone came to me with this concern I’d be doing what I could to carve out a seat or growth opportunity for them.
Same. Personally, I'm all about wlb, so I emphasize that over pay and fun projects. That said, if someone said to me, "I can do more. What can you give me?" that would a) help me make better team decisions, b) likely raise my opinion of that person, and c) make me figure out what back-burnered projects and challenges I could ask them to take on.
Gotta decide what's more important to you. If work-life balance is crucial to your happiness then that's what I would prioritize. It sounds like you're wanting a bigger challenge and more opportunities to grow from where you are, so that might need to take precedence above work-life balance for now. If you work hard, potentially you could make more with a good work-life balance after you climb the ladder a bit.
